The following morning I woke up to complete silence. The whole world around me felt still. Perhaps it was because I was still tired. I fell back onto my pillow daydreaming about last night. I touched my lips in memory of what had occurred, aching for more. The ghost of his soft lips lingered on mine. My fingers clasped together wanting to feel his curls again. Bringing my thoughts back to today I stepped out of my quilt excited to see Mattheo at breakfast.

The hall was quite excited this morning. Everyone seemed content with the trials yesterday and they were all happy for everyone's wins, except for maybe Harry's. Even Draco had a smile plastered on his face. My eyes met Mattheo's . Seated next to A babbling Draco and Pansy he completely zoned off staring at me. I smiled and waved. He smirked giving me a small nod. I went and sat at the Hufflepuff table. I always felt so alone in Hufflepuff so I always sat at the edge away from everyone.

"Hello." Someone walked over to me.
"Hi," I said looking up. It was a tall brunette boy. He looked very nice. His face was neatly chiseled and his eyes creased as he smiled at me. Gorgeous, I instantly thought, he has the most gorgeous, contagious smile.
"Can I sit?" He asked
"Sure, be my guest." He tucked his legs in and looked at me.
"I haven't seen you before, or am I tripping?"
"No, weirdly I haven't seen you either. What's your name?"
"Oh. Lorenzo Berkshire," he said sticking out his hand. I took it and smiled, "Y/N Y/L/N. Nice to meet you." He handed me some toast and jam, ushering me to try some. I reluctantly complied since he had had such an adorable face, like a puppy.
"Your really pretty by the way," Lorenzo said. I was a bit taken aback. His face realized looking at mine. "No no no, I meant it in a letsbefriendsbecauseyoulookcool way." I laughed, relieved. After what happened every man felt like a predator, other than Mattheo for some reason.
"Thank you Lorenzo." He gave me his bright little smile.
"You have to try the jam it's actually not rubbish, then again I'm used to my mother's." He winked. I laughed, he was so effortlessly amusing. I took a bite of my toast and oh my goodness was it heaven. The warm, crispy, brioche bread melted in my mouth and paired with the sweet, tangy jam it hit different.
"Enzo its absolutely delicious!" I looked at him and he was spaced out slightly pink and smiley.
"Enzo? I like that, only my mum has a nickname for me and it's Berkie. I don't really like it," he paused, "actually I hate it, it reminds me of stale bread covered in boogers." The water I just sipped shot out and I began dying of laughter. He just looked at me blankly, completely serious about what he said. His expression made me laugh harder to the point where there were tears in my eyes. I think I like this one.

Mattheo's POV

I looked at her goofing off with that other boy. My jaw clenched, as did my grip on my fork.
"Mattheo?" Pansy's annoying voice spat, "are you okay...honey?" She placed her disgusting hand on my arm and I lost it. My fork shot down right into her hands. She screeched out like the dying chicken she is. Three perfect holes of red popped out. Pansy began crying and I smirked. She looked like an idiot, it wasn't even that bad. Draco seemed unbothered as well. Everyone did. She was just... wailing. She ran out, probably to Madam Pomfreys. I caught the eye of Y/N from her table, she was silently giggling at what I had done. Good, at least I'm making her laugh too. The boy next to her followed her gaze to me. He looked between us back and forth and smiled. He turned to me and wave smiling, a little too excitedly. I smirked waving back. Then he whispered something to Y/N and she turned pink, hitting his shoulder. Excuse me? Why is she blushing? That's it I'm going over there.
Right when I was about to get up Dumbledore came up to speak. Great.
"Good Morning students. Today I wanted to announce that on Christmas we will hold the Yule Ball, a celebration that is part of the triwizard tournament festivities." Everyone started murmuring excited to dance and have fun with their friends and significant others. Dumbledore also mentioned that 4th year students will practice with Mcgonagall.

Y/N's POV

All the students sat on the side as Mcgonagall explained what the Yule Ball was. Dancing with each other meant having to ask people and I don't think people like that part.
"Hey, Y/N. Try saying that 5 times fast," Fred said to me, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"What? I wasn't listening," I replied.
"Babbling, Bumbling Band of Baboons." The twins kept repeating it laughing. Ron mumbled something to Harry and Mcgonagall made him volunteer. I laughed at his face when Mcgonagall began dancing with him. The twins looked at Ron dancing with the air, teasing him. I giggle silently.
"Your never gonna let him forget this are you," Harry asked.
"Never," the twins replied, amused.

I caught glimpse of Mattheo whispering to Draco. I didn't understand, was all of Slytherin playing telephone? Each one was whispering in another's ear passing something along. I played no mind and continued watching Ron make a fool of himself. Hermione tapped me on the shoulder.
"Here you are Y/N. Someone passed this note for you." I took it from her hand and opened it.

________

I was so excited. He knew I loved riddles, mysteries and books. I think he just made me like him more. I was eager to leave this class and use my break exploring the library and cracking his code.

When class ended I ran to the Library. Following his first clue I went to Aisle 2, Section 3. My fingers ran along the books landing on the 6th book.
"Wandlore and More. So, W." If 1 was W then it would look like this.

W 2 3 3 4 5 6 7 5 8 5 8 9 10
11 12 3 3 W 2 8 9 13 10 ?

I did the same with the rest of the letters. Nearing the end, I discovered the final letter. I walked over to the tables and sat down, filling in the last blank. I smiled at what had been written. Never did I think Mattheo was so keen on sweet things like this.

Will You Go To The
Ball With Me?

My heart skipped a beat, actually getting excited for the Yule Ball. In the sweet silence of the library I heard a voice, "Will you?" I lifted my head to see Mattheo standing before me, his lips in a crooked smile and holding a white rose. I stood up and walked around the table, facing him.
"I don't know," I teased, taking the rose, "what's in it for me?"
"I am."
"Oh really?" He walked forward.
"Is there something else?" He cornered me on the table. I leaned back, his face inching closer. My heartbeat quickened.
"I think there is."
"Mhm, and what may that be,"
"All of you," I mumbled.
"I'm sorry I didn't catch that"
"You know what I mean. I want all of you, no Draco, no Pansy. Just us." He laughed to himself, I hope he didn't think I meant the other thing.
He snaked his hand around my waste, roughly pulling me into him. He stared into my eyes, smirking.
"Trust me," he said, softly brushing my hair off my shoulder. He brought his lips to my ear, "You will have every inch of me."
His words erupted butterflies in my stomach and I turned pink. I think he meant the other thing though. He placed a soft kiss on my neck and dissapeared into the shadows of the bookshelves. In the silence of the library my heart was thumping in my ears. Feeling overly hot, I decided to go outside, hoping to process what just happened. Mattheo Riddle will be the death of me.
