"Y/N used to come to our home often; she'd love to play with Ron, the Twins and I," Ginny started, "Occasionally, she'd show up in weird moods. She'd be quiet or distant or have bruising all over her body. Mum would help her, of course, and I think Dad tried going to her parents about it but he was turned away by the housekeeper. I can't say I know the details of everything that happened but I'll start from the beginning..."

7-Year-Old Ginny's POV:
I walked out past the garden to see if I could find dry wood for Fred and I's bonfire. We were going to burn all of Percy's homework because he wouldn't let us play on his broomstick. I continued into the long, dry prairie grass near our home when bam I hit something, or rather someone.
"Oh Hello! I'm sorry are you okay?" I asked.
"Yes," The little girl squeaked. She stood up and there was a large bruise on her eye.
"OMG did I do that?!"
"Oh... no. No my... I fell," She sighed.
"Oh well, I'm sure my mom can help you." I lifted her up and walked back home with her. I walked into the kitchen and Mum yelped at the sight of the girl.
"Oh, my dear girl! Who's done this to you?!" Mum shrieked.
"She said she fell mum, could you help?"
"Of course dears." Mum healed up her eye and the girl thanked her. She was quiet and didn't say much but I took her to my room anyways. I showed her some of the dolls mum had made me and we silently played for a bit.
"I'm Ginny by the way. Ginny Weasley. What's your name?" I asked.
"Y/n. Y/n Y/l/n."
"That's a pretty name."
...
"That was the first day we met. After that, she'd come quite regularly, as an escape I suppose. I never properly asked her until I was 8 and she was 9 why she'd come with bruises and we'd never see her parents. When she did tell me, she swore me to secrecy from my parents."
...
"Hey, Y/n? W-why do you always have bruises? Can you tell me who hurts you?" I gently asked Y/n one day as we lay in a meadow. She let out a sigh,
"My dad. My dad hits me, and my mom too. I usually get hit when I get in the way or bother him at the wrong time. He likes taking out his anger on us I think."
"Why? Why is he angry at you?"
"Because my mum isn't a pure pure-blood. Her dad was a pure-blood, but her mum was a half-blood. That makes my dad hate her because he got disowned for marrying a woman who isn't generationally pure-blood. He beats her up for it every day, and I get caught in it just because I'm her flesh and blood, and his too, that's why he can't stand me." I couldn't say anything. I didn't even entirely understand. Y/n was a year older than me but her mind sounded even older than that. I just felt sad and hurt for her.
"Don't tell your parents, please Ginny," she asked sweetly.
"Okay." I sighed looking at her sad expression as she stared at the sky.
...
A tear slipped down my cheek as Ginny said that. I stroked Y/n's hair, my heart aching for her. The pain I felt from simply hearing that that happened to her was enough to make me feel suffocated. Fred patted me on the back as Ginny continued.
