Bart's P.O.V.:
Jaime, Tim, Garfield, and I stand in the grotto, looking at the new statues of Artemis and Zanobia. I frown as I eat freeze-dried Chicken Whizees. Jaime, Tim, and Garfield turn toward me, annoyed with the crunching of my favorite snack.
After gulping down more of the chicken Whizees, I clear my throat. "Uh, sorry. Mourning makes me hungry," I speak.
Jaime grabs my shirt and yanks me away from Tim and Garfield. "You stole those freeze-dried Chicken Whizees from my locker, didn't you?" He accuses, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Hey, hey, hey, where I come from it's not stealing, it's scavenger rights," I respond to him. He continues to narrow his eyes at me.
"The point is, uh, we don't have Chicken Whizees freeze-dried or otherwise in my era. So blame Kid Flash. He got me hooked," I mention.
"Forget I asked," Jaime facepalms.
"So why is this here? I mean, it's pretty and everything. But these people are heroes. In the line of duty and all that. They should have giant statues. Big, crashing memorials in the Hall of Justice or something," I speak.
"Yeah, I asked that too. Captain Atom said the League doesn't want or need a public shrine to its fallen. But I don't know. Seems to me they just don't wanna advertise we're not immortal," Jaime starts as I narrow my eyes at his words.
"The handful of regular people who've seen me in action think I'm this guy in a new costume. The world will never know about Ted Kord's sacrifice," Jaime sadly explains.
My expression softens and I walk up to Jaime. "But you know. And you're carrying on the grand Blue Beetle heroic tradition, right?" I ask him.
"I wish. It's such a total rip. Superboy has Superman, Wonder Girl has Wonder Woman, Robin has Batman, Nightwing, and Batgirl, and Zanobia had Zatanna," Jaime complains.
"Please don't talk about Zanobia..." I say with a frown, lowering my head sadly.
"Sorry. But still, you've been in this era, like what, five minutes? And already you have three Flash mentors. One who feeds you junk food. But me? I never even got the chance to meet the guy who should have been my mentor," Jaime says, discouraged, looking at Ted Kord's memorial.
