I just got up from sleeping and stared out into the lake. There was the same mermaid person from yesterday. She seemed to notice my staring and stared back at me. We were just left with an awkward silence between us before she dived down and reappeared at the bank of the river.
"Hi?" I said as she waved in response. I blinked. Did she understand human language or was she just familiar with that word?
"Ummm, do you understand me?" I asked as I bent down so I was crouched up and the mermaid person nodded her head.
"Hey, kid whatcha, who the fudge cake lord is that?" a familiar voice pounded into my head.
"Umm, a person?" I replied with a nervous smile, the wind not being helpful blowing my hair in front of my face.
"That is not a person, that is an abnormal, kid, did they teach you anything at school?" Freya barked and I blinked before shaking my head.
"Did you even go to school?" Freya asked as her whited-out pupils stared soullessly into my eyes.
"Y-yes?" my voice cracked. I really need to get used to speaking English.
"Hey! There are more abnormals over here!" A man barked.
"Be right back," Freya huffed as she stood up and walked in the direction of the noise. The mermaid pointed at Freya as she ran off and gurgled something in merish but I shrugged. The mermaid lowered her eyebrows in annoyance I couldn't understand her.

It wasn't long until Freya arrived. She was rubbing her blood-stained paws on her clothes and a splatter of blood was smudged around her face.
"Did you really have to kill them?" I asked and Freya shrugged. I sighed. I looked back at the mermaid. She gurgled something.
"Her name's Ella," Freya responded to the gurgle and I stared at her.
"What? You can't understand Merish?" Freya blinked and I nodded. How she could see is a mystery.
