The next few days are filled with flirty texts and a lot of blushing. Alex was one to spend a while texting back within two seconds and then take like four hours to reply. It was a good few days of anxiety but also ridiculous happiness.
It was a few days later he asked me out again, it was to a restaurant again. And this time with his whole band were coming and I was about a million times more nervous than I was last time we went on a date.... if it was a date... I still wasn't sure.
When Alex picked me up he made my knees wobble with another "wow you look great" and I was growing increasingly nervous in the car on the way to the restaurant, which was apparently in some really fancy Italian place in downtown Baltimore. I had a habit of bouncing my right leg when I was really nervous. I chanced a couple of side glances at Alex.
Was this a date? The very thought of it being a date was making me feel like I was going to hurl butterflies. When we got to the restaurant Alex opened my door for me, which made me blush pretty bad.
"Just out of interest" I said, breaking the silence "How many people are going to be here?"
"Not sure, maybe 10 or more?" he replied with a casual shrug. I was slightly regretting coming now but I was spending time with Alex so pick your battles I guess.
"Alex!" I heard a female voice call, my eyes fell on a very pretty girl walking towards us. I instantly recognised her as Cassadee and my heart sank a little.
"Hey Cass" Alex smiled, leaning down to hug her as she got here.
"Oh hey Taylor" she smiled, turning to me
"Hi Cassadee" I said with a weak smile
She grinned and motioned us to follow her "Come on, we're just waiting for Jack now"
"Like always" Alex chuckled as we followed Cass into the restaurant. They were near the back in a back wall table. It was one huge table, with squishy chairs going across the back wall and normal ones on the other side.
"Alex is here!" Cass said to the table of about 6 guys, they all looked up and I could feel myself blushing really bad "And uh, this is his... friend... Taylor"
I didn't have time to ask what she meant before I was being introduced to absolutely everyone. I made an effort to remember all their names, Rian and Zack were the ones from their band, then there was Vinny, who's birthday it was, Danny, Matt and Evan. I felt Alex's warm hand press into the small of my back while I was shaking Matt's hand, who was apparently their tour manager. It made me flush even more red which was not helping my case. I tried not to smile when Cassadee kissed another one of the guys there, Rian. I think I liked her a million times more now.
"That's Jack" Rian said, I followed his gaze across the restaurant to see a tall guy walking towards us, he had almost black hair with a chunk of blonde and bushy eyebrows. There was a tall, curvy blonde girl who was showing a lot of leg and cleavage clinging to his arm.
"He brought Kaitlin" Zack groaned quietly.
"Great" Alex muttered, his hand now sitting on my waist as I stood close to his side, trying not to explode in a mess of nerves and butterflies. I shot him a quizzical look. "He's got a really bitchy girlfriend" he whispered into my ear, his breath was warm against my skin, it sent shivers down my spine. Alex smiled as Jack reached us.
"Hey" Jack grinned
"You're late" Cass said from her chair
"I know, I'm sorry" he smirked "I got a little.. distracted" the Kaitlin girl giggled and hit him on the arm. Rian made a gagging noise, I saw Cass stamp on his foot under the table. Jack was oblivious.
