Something's Gotta Give

We went out a couple more times in the following week, when ever he had the time to spare as he was spending pretty much every waking hour with the guys writing this new record. I'd even went down to a record store and bought every single one of his bands CD's. I liked their music, they were all really talented but Alex's voice kinda wowed me. Though I'd never actually heard him sing, his voice was amazing on the four CD's they had, even their first EP was great. Alex had invited me over to his place, where he was living with his four band mates and Cassadee. How did they not get tired of each other?

Anyway, apparently they were practicing a couple songs they'd managed to write for the record on acoustics in their back yard. It was another very hot summer day and I guess they were making the most of it. I was just going over for lunch, anyway. I put on a white crop, light blue skirt and dug out a flower crown, judge me but it's really pretty. I decided on just walking to Alex's, it as only a couple of blocks anyway. Just saving the petrol money really. It only took me about 10 minutes to walk there. When I rang the doorbell it was Jack who answered. He grinned at me when he opened the door.

"Hey Taylor!" he said, grabbing me into a hug, which took me very much off guard but I hugged back as much as I could with my arms which were pressed to my sides.

"Hi Jack" I giggled, as he let me go.

"Come on in" he said opening the door for me and leading me through a pretty nice house. Everything was white and it was very open plan, you opened the front door into the living room. I followed him through sliding doors to the back garden, Jesus Christ they had a pool. I saw Zack, Rian and Alex sitting. Alex was wearing the same sunglasses he wore when we met, pulling handfuls of grass out of the ground next to him. Zack was sitting, twisting the peg of the A string on the acoustic he had. Rian looked a little bored, sitting on a Cajon.

"That's Taylor here" Jack announced to them, the three of them looked up from what they were doing and I get very self conscious at being the sudden centre of attention "Come on" Jack grinned, grabbing my hand and pulling me over to the guys. He sat down and picked up his acoustic. I sat down in between him and Alex, who smiled at me.

"Hey, how have you been?" he asked, I opened my mouth to reply but Jack interrupted

"The two of you can flirt later, we have another song to play" he smirked, strumming a couple chords. I flushed red and Alex chuckled, giving Jack the finger.

"Guys!" Rian laughed "no arguing"

The both laughed but started playing the song anyway. Alex bobbed his head for a couple seconds of an intro then started singing.

"I woke up in a stranger's bed

With pins and needles in my head

And the clock ticking off the wall

Oh, yeah, oh, yeah

I don't even know myself

I wish I could be someone else

But I don't have a clue at all

Oh, yeah

I'm sinking

You're wading

I'm thinking something's gotta give

Oh, Wake me up

Say enough is enough

I'm dying to live

Something's gotta give

Oh, Pull me out

Of this sinking town

I'm dying to live
