——————————————————————AGE TWELVE
A weird feeling settles in my stomach as I enter my house.
It's a little after dawn, and something feels unsettling.
As soon as I left the school gates this morning I ran straight to the gazebo. Where I spent most of my day crying.
My eyes feel tired and hazy, my face feels dry from all the tears. Overall I feel exhausted, I've never felt soo betrayed.
My mother and father may have treated me unfairly compared to my brothers. I may have been punished by them over the littlest things.
But that was nothing compared to the feeling of betrayal I felt with what Lucas did to me.
He was my best friends, the person who promised to marry me and spend our whole lives together, the person who stole my first kiss, the person who knew if I was upset or not.
So how could he do this to me, to us.
How could he throw years of friendship away, as if it meant nothing to him.
I was a bet, I meant nothing to him.
But why the fuck does it hurt so much.
"Miss Watts!" Sophia yells behind me.
I turn around to see her running toward me.
"Sophia, is everything okay?" I ask.
Sophia ignores my question, as she frantically looks around.
"You Father wants to see you in his office." She says, her voice laced with worry.
My stomach dips, no, please don't tell me he found out.
I cover my worry and put on a smile, "okay, I should go up I shouldn't keep him waiting."
"Jennie," Sophia says, grabbing my hand, her hand lightly shakes as they softly grip my arm.
"Please be careful, your Father looked angry and your mother seemed worry. I wish I could go up with you. But please be careful, I'm begging you Sweetheart." Sophia says her eyes laced with tears.
Sophia has been more of a mother to me than my own mother. When my mother never payed attention to me Sophia did, she attended my dance recital's and showed up to all of my school activities.
