It has been a year since he adopted his problem child. Adopting Aizawa Izuku, as was his new name, turned out to be one of the best decisions of his life. His kid wasn't anything like those that applied to UA, nothing like those Aizawa expelled in the past.

Unlike them, he wanted to be a hero for the right reasons and actually put in the effort to do so. Of course, both him and Zashi planned to help the kid train in the first place, but Izuku had started his own plan without them.

That's not even mentioning the fact that he was now officially Aizawa's apprentice and could legally accompany him every night on patrol as Loki. (Well, he was technically legal before, but now the police and heroes won't go after him seeing as they didn't know this.)

It was currently a week before the entrance exams for UA, and Izuku had stubbornly chosen to take the normal exam. He wanted to prove himself seeing as he would have to do that a lot as a quirkless hero and all. Aizawa understood, and he was confident that his kid would do more than well on it, but robots were biased.

Nezu has been trying to switch up the exam for a while, but the hero commission wouldn't budge on the robot thing. It was why Aizawa kept a lookout for any kids with a mental quirk that had potential outside of the hero courses.

His son had reassured him a million times that he could take down the robots, but the worry was still there. He would never admit it, but his parental instincts were kicking in. Even though he was sure his son would kick ass, there was still the Zero Pointer.

"Dad."

Aizawa broke out of his thoughts and looked up at Izuku who was smiling at him across the table.

"I know that look, I'll be fine."

"You better be."

Sitting in the observation room, Aizawa watched with a carefully blank expression as his husband yelled at the kids about the exam. That man really loved that screaming at people was his job.

A smirk stretched across his face as his problem child ran through the gates as soon as they opened. The other students eventually ran inside as well, with some coaxing from Zashi, but Izuku had already down two robots using his boa staff that Nezu approved.

"Who is that green-haired kid? He looks familiar..."

Aizawa snapped his head to look at the number one hero. Did he know Izuku?

Nezu proceeded to pull up his file on the screen and All Might's face lit up in recognition. "He was that quirkless kid...I thought he..."

Now Aizawa was even more alert, 'that quirkless kid'? If that's how the hero remembered the kid, then something happened involving that fact.

Before he could speak, Nerumi broke the silence, "Isn't he the cutest! And he is so skilled too, Shouta what have you been teaching this kid?"

He sighed, "Actually, he did most of his training on his own, he only asked me and Zashi for help every once and a while. He has worked hard to get here."

All Might turned to look at him, "Aizawa-kun, I didn't know you and Yamada-kun were his parents!"

Aizawa felt his eye twitch at the name. With a sigh, he looked back at the screen where Izuku was finishing off another 2 pointer. "We adopted him about a year ago." He didn't say anything else as they watched the applicants. After a few minutes, it was time.

The principal cleared his throat with a smile and pushed down a large red button. Rumbling could be heard along with students' yelps of fear and confusion. And no matter how much he wished his problem child would not run towards the large robot, he of course did.

Well, he rushed to get a girl out from under rubble and handed her off to another kid before scaling the massive robot and prying open the control panel. The kid fiddled with it before the robot began to tilt forward and came crashing down.

Aizawa felt his heart pick up speed when he saw Izuku jump off the falling robot, do a spinning flip, and land with a roll on the ground. Through the drone hovering nearby, he managed to read the kid's lips and he again felt his eye twitch. What did he mean "I can't believe that worked?"

"Problem Child."

As the heroes were filtering out of the room in small conversations, Aizawa went up to the one person he needed answers from. The whole exam, he kept looking at Izuku in confusion and shock. Most importantly, he looked worried. But not about the kid himself no. Aizawa saw him glancing at the word 'quirkless' on his profile enough to know that he didn't think his son could pass just because he didn't have a quirk.

So of course, he marched right up to him with a cold glare and small scowl.

"Oh Aizawa-kun! Do you need something?"

"We need to talk."
