Chapter Five
Tuesday and Wednesday were average or as close to average being the new girl and all. You're new? No way your from California? You're the one that drives that jeep? Do you surf? How do you like Maine? These were the same typical "New girl" questions I had been hearing and had been asked all week long that continued into today. My answers began to get repetitive I'm sure. Based on the vast interest in my arrival to the high school, I was beginning to assume that not much excitement seemed to happen around here. It must be the small town environment.
My classes felt similar to my classes back home, but team activities had already become my favorite class in the whole three days I'd been enrolled in the high school. I didn't have to do anything, but run around and well play team activities with the other students. I'm competitive by nature too, so playing games every day boded well for me. Statistics had ended and it was time for my new found favorite class on this fine Thursday.
"So Kam are you excited for the football game tomorrow night?" Maddy asked as we walked into the gymnasium for team activities. My old school didn't emphasis football a lot, it was more about baseball and lacrosse.
"Yeah I am actually excited, I get to experience that small town football feel right?" I said giggling, "Plus that party is after the game right?" I was always excited for a good party. In California we had them frequently on the beach at night. Stereotypical of course.
"If there isn't a party after the game, we might want to make sure the sun isn't going to fall out of the sky," she shut her locker room locker and spun the lock, "Trust me, there is always a party."
"Is this broad knowledge around here?" I spun my lock shut twisting the numbers up.
"Essentially. Everyone knows what goes on in a small town, you'll get used to it." We left the locker room and headed back into the gymnasium. Maddy and I wandered over to where we usually sat while waiting for Coach Simpson to come in when Damon and Turner walked into the gym. As he walked closer to the class waiting, I noticed that almost everyone turned to look at him. Was he that special around here?
"What is it about him that makes everyone turn and watch?" I asked quietly.
"Well, for starters, he is like super hot. Secondly, if you talk to Damon, that means you're worth something around here."
I scoffed, "That's ridiculous, he is just a guy." Okay maybe a really really hot guy. But still, just an average individual.
"I know trust me, try growing up with him."
In the last couple days, Damon had not become much nicer than the first day I met him. Granted he is really attractive and has those amazing eyes, but the past couple days have just made me dislike him more because of his cocky and arrogant attitude he has towards not only me, but everyone and thing around him. I wanted to give him a newsflash to remind him that his shit does indeed stink just like everyone else's.
"Hey Cali going to the game tomorrow night?" Damon said as he approached us with Turner by his side. Turner was more quiet than Damon was. One of those trusty side companions.
"To see you play no, to watch Turner yes!" I said winking at Turner and I could see Damon scoff at my comment as he crossed his arms across his chest. Holy forearm muscles.
Turner flashed me a heart warming smile. Turner was a pretty cute guy. I'm sure he has just always been overlooked because he is always next to Damon the known ladies man. His light brown hair stopped right above his eye brows and shaped his face just right. His hair even curled on the ends just a little bit and Turner's light green eyes had a bit of glint to them making them sparkle a little when the light hit them just right. Maybe Turner and I could get to know each other, it would drive Damon nuts I'm sure.
