"Mondays are just pointless." Maddie said as we trudged up the familiar concrete steps into the high school.
"Tell me about it. I was up till about two last night finishing up aquatics homework so I have an idea of what's going on when we dissect today in class." I said as I grasped the front entrance door handle.
"I can't express to you just how glad I am that I am not in that class. I mean I know it is a college credit class, but there is no way I could dissect a shark or whatever fish you all slice into." She said clenching her stomach. I laughed at her squeamishness towards dissections in the lab. I was unlike most girls when it came to doing dissections in any science class. I had always been the one to grab the scalpel out of the boy's hand to do the dirty work.
"Oh! I forgot to compliment you on your outfit today to hangout with Dallas!" Maddie said turning to look at me as we made our way to our lockers for our first period statistics class.
"Thank you, I had a slight detour yesterday after leaving your house by the way." I looked down glancing at my outfit. Black leggings, leather brown ridding boots, a faded jean washed over shirt and a light coral scarf to complete the look according to the fall weather outside that I never experienced in California.
"Detour? Please explain further because my Monday brain is not really understanding it." She said crossing her arms over her chest.
"Well as I was getting in my car to go home, Damon called me." I said starting to smile just a little bit thinking of the day with him up until our argument in his car following our rather heavy make out session.
"What did he want?" Maddie asked as we approached our lockers, "A quick bang?"
"He wanted me to go to the disability supports with him to talk to his brother."
"Oh to get your stats for the project?" She asked.
"Well that was the general idea, but I didn't collect one statistic while we were there." I said while opening my locker.
"Wasn't that the whole point in going?" She asked confused.
"Well yeah it was the goal, but Damon kind of stormed out of the building after he kissed me in the elevator." I spit out quickly.
"Shut up." Maddie said loudly drawing attention to us by stopping in the middle of the hallway. I pulled her arm forward to keep her moving to avoid drawing attention in our direction.
"I know I know, It's awful that I keep lip locking with him, but I just can't stop." I said turning her body to face the lockers so no one could hear our conversation. "He kept telling me I was something he wanted, but he couldn't have. Also, that he can evidently see through my wall and that he knows I like him."
"So that is how he is going to play this game?" She said as she opened and grabbed her necessary textbooks for the morning.
"I mean evidently that is his primary task at the moment." I spoke as I grabbed my statistics book and shut my locker.
"You know what? You can fight fire with fire." She excitedly said as we walked away.
"So you think I should play his game? I mean what if it isn't a game? What if he generally wants to be with me?"
"Yes. If he is going to be Mr. Sensitivity and then turn you away, you can do it right back to him." She pointed her finger at me, "And trust me, I have known him long enough he is just probably looking for a piece of ass. If he can play with your feelings, you can do the same right back to him. It is time someone showed him how to play his own game."
"That is devious my friend!" I laughed.
"And you know who will help you make this game just even better?" She asked as we rounded the corner.
"Dallas?" I questioned.
"Bingo." She said punching her fist into mine, "We will take Damon down playing his own game."
I wasn't too sure about her plan, but it was a valid one to use. It is unfair for Damon to go around kissing someone when he doesn't want anything real so why couldn't I do the same thing to him. Fighting fire with fire makes this a fair ball game as long as I wasn't setting myself up to get torched.
"Well my friend, all I have to say is you better step up your flirt game big time with Dallas and tone down the lip lock with the douchebag."
"Tone down?"
"Yeah, you keep on kissing him." She spoke.
"Well it is not like I mean to. He is just good at it!"
"Well hang out with Dallas and smack lips with him and picture Damon or something." She laughed.
"Yeah maybe that's what i'll do."
We started moving down the hallway to go to statistics when Dallas was walking our way. He was wearing Nike sweats and a hoodie and looked hot. He was hot who was I kidding? Obviously not myself. He just didn't have the personality and background story like Damon did. Dallas was just hot and Damon was hot, smart, sexy, and underneath a genuine sweetheart.
He was smirking at me, "Hey Kam!" He embraced me in a hug.
"Well hey Mr!" I flirted a little with him.
"Still hanging out after school?" He asked pushing a wispy piece of my hair behind my ear.
"Of course." I smiled up at the tall boy in front of me.
"Great I'll meet you by your car after school alright?" He grinned, "I'm thinking we should grab some smoothies, a little birdie told me you like those."
"Can't wait."
"Great! Later Kam." He bent down and kissed my forehead.
I smiled appreciating the kind gesture.
"Let's go the great incredible kisser. I swear you are always kissing someone!" Maddie said pushing me through the classroom door.
"Yeah she sure is. Isn't that right Cali?" Damon said loudly as he walked up behind me.
"Oh shit." Maddie mumbled.
"God do you have a comment for everything?" I said.
"How was the walk home?" He asked right next to my ear. I could feel his breath on my neck making me shiver, "It was nice weather at least."
"Oh it was lovely. Enjoyed it a lot, probably the only highlight of the day." I punched his shoulder playfully.
"You should learn how to lie babe because you sure suck at it." He laughed before taking his seat at the back of the class where I first met him.
I grunted, "What a fucker."
"Take him down." Maddie said.
"Oh I plan on it. Him and his ego are so going down." I said as I slid in to my seat ready for the adventuorous day ahead. It had the potential to be a very interesting one that was for sure.
