Chapter 9

At last, there it was. The dreaded noise of the alarm clock on a Monday morning had found me at last. I tried to convince myself otherwise, but the sound was all to familiar. I groaned out loud as I rolled over on my side to see what time it was, 6:45. It was way to early in the morning for a person to even consider doing anything at all. I for one just wanted to pull the covers back over my bed head and drift back into a deep slumber and forget about school in general for the next three months. Groggily I sat up to stretch my arms to the ceiling shivering as the brisk morning air hit my bare shoulders. I slumped back against the bed, I so did not want to go to school today. It was the last thing I wanted to do following this weekend's festivities. There was nothing worse than

1. A Monday morning. (Obviously)

2. A Monday morning after a great weekend.

3. A Monday morning after a really great party.

This morning it so happened to be that all three of these factors were working against me as I rolled out of bed lazily. Turner's after party Friday night had been one for the books and now it was back to reality.

I stretched my legs out slowly allowing my feet to touch the floor and I stood up crossing my arms across my body trying to stay warm. Staggering to the bathroom I flicked on the light allowing the light to brighten up the bathroom. I ran the water splashing my face to try and wake myself up. I needed to get going or else I would just keep wanting to go right back to bed. Would anyone notice if I didn't show up to school? The odds were not in my favor.

I brushed my teeth and wandered back out to my room to open the door to my closet, grabbing a pair of designer jeans and a sweatshirt to wear today. I was feeling immensely casual this morning. I just wanted to go back to bed and take a long nap where I could dream about Damon and I's torturous game of Spin the Bottle a little bit longer. Wait no, I so did not just think that! Gosh dammit Kamryn, snap out of it, I thought to myself. It had been non-stop thoughts about Damon and his dammed blue eyes since we kissed Friday night. The party continued without him in plain sight after he had slipped out the back door and I didn't see him the rest of the night. It was going to be a long day if all I could think about was him.

................................................................

At eight o'clock, I pulled into my designated parking spot in our school's parking lot dreading the long day ahead. Quickly, I flipped down the sun visor to give myself a quick glance over before hoping out and grabbing my back pack from the back seat of my jeep

Walking briskly through the parking lot my head jerked to the left, "Hey Kam!!" Maddy said as she began to head over to me weaving in and out between the various cars. I smiled and waved to her.

"Hey girl, how's the boy?" I winked and nudged her in the side making her laugh and blush at the same time.

"Fabulous. It's finally nice being able to have Jerek for a boyfriend you know? Finally getting to kiss him when I want instead of imagining it in my head thinking it would never happen. It's nice to know I'm wanted by him as more than just his best friend." She said getting all giddy and red.

"That might be the sweetest thing my ears have ever heard," I cooed as we walked up the steps into school. "Listen, I'm so glad you and Jerek are dating now and just think it was all thanks to a silly game of Spin the Bottle," I laughed.

"God bless those damn middle schoolers right?" She joked as I turned my head back forward and ran straight into something that felt like a cloth wall.
