_________________________________________As I rushed home, my heart was pounding in my chest. I had this feeling that something was not right, and I couldn't shake it off. Y/n had been complaining of headaches lately, and I couldn't help but worry. I sprinted up the stairs and burst into our apartment, and that's when I saw her.
Y/n was on the floor, convulsing, and foaming at the mouth. I knew she was having a seizure, and I didn't know what to do. I panicked for a moment, but then I remembered some basic first aid training I had received in college.
I knelt beside her, gently cradling her head in my hands. "Y/n, can you hear me? Y/n, it's me, Ethan," I said, my voice shaking. But there was no response. She was completely unresponsive, and the seizure showed no signs of slowing down.
I felt so helpless, and I didn't know what to do. But then I remembered something else I had learned in my first aid training. I gently turned her onto her side, so that she wouldn't choke on her own saliva.
I sat beside her, talking to her softly and waiting for the seizure to pass. "Y/n, everything is going to be okay. Just focus on your breathing and try to relax," I said, trying to keep my voice calm.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the seizure started to subside. Y/n's convulsions became less violent, and she started to regain consciousness. "Ethan? What happened?" she asked groggily.
"You had a seizure, Y/n. But it's okay now. You're safe," I said, my relief palpable.
Y/n looked up at me, her eyes wide with fear. "I'm so scared, Ethan. What if it happens again?" she asked.
"Don't worry, Y/n. We'll get through this together and I'll always be here for you," I said, holding her hand tightly.
And as I sat there with Y/n, watching her slowly recover, I realized that no matter what challenges we faced in our relationship, we would always be there for each other. No matter what.
The experience of seeing Y/n have a seizure had been terrifying, but it had also made me realize how much I loved her. I didn't know what I would do if anything ever happened to her.
"We should probably go to the hospital," I said, helping Y/n to her feet.
"I don't want to go to the hospital," she protested weakly.
"I know, but we need to make sure that you're okay. It's better to be safe," I said, gently guiding her towards the door.
At the hospital, we waited for what felt like hours before the doctor finally came to see us. Y/n had been hooked up to an EEG machine, and we had to wait for the results.
"It looks like you have epilepsy, Y/n," the doctor said, looking at us both gravely.
"Epilepsy? But I've never had a seizure before," Y/n said, her voice shaking.
"It's possible for epilepsy to develop later in life. We'll need to do some more tests to confirm, but for now, I'm going to prescribe you some medication to help control the seizures," the doctor said.
Y/n looked at me, her eyes filled with tears. "What if I have another seizure, Ethan? What if something happens to me?" she asked.
"Shh, it's okay, Y/n. We'll get through this together," I said, pulling her close to me.
And we did get through it together. Y/n started taking her medication, and we made some lifestyle changes to help manage her epilepsy. We avoided triggers like flashing lights and lack of sleep, and we always made sure to have her medication with us wherever we went.
