The Velvet Room

Vitali slowly opened his eyes to a strange looking blue room.

Seemed to be a lawyer cabinet for him.

He was laying down on a luxurious blue couch, his head on Nero's chest, the other man under him. Sharing a matching blue armchair, next to them, the Sparda twins.

Each of them awakens slowly, the same questioning gaze on their three faces while they looked around themselves. It was definitely a family thing. Did he have it too?

Vergil was the first one to speak.

"We're not in the human world anymore."

"Where are we, then?" Asked Nero, puzzled.

"I'm not really sure." Was his father's only answer, this one standing up, surely feeling cramped by sharing an armchair with his twin. "Look like one of the cognitive spaces I heard about while I was in hell. But I can't say it one hundred percent."

"What the fuck is that?" Asked Dante, standing up too to stretch his limbs.

"I'm the one who could say that." Interrupted Vitali by looking at himself.

"What the fuck, hon?! What the heck happened to your tattoos?! And your hair?!" Both pretty confused by Nero's questions, the twins turned to look at the human, him and the hybrid sitting face to face on the couch.

Surprised, they couldn't do anything but only noticed the pearl white unmarked skin and the pure snow coloured hair. Like that, he looked even more like a Sparda, but that was not the problem. Of course, they knew that means Griffon, Shadow and Nightmare weren't here with Vitali anymore. But so many questions remained.

Like, did they leave? And where were they?

"We had to keep them outside. We had to be sure they will not attack us again." Not far of them, behind a heavy luxurious wooden desk, the strangest man they ever seen. His nose was so long that it seemed to be a fake. And his smile, his big toothy smile that didn't seemed to move, it make them uneasy.

"What do you mean by that?" Asked Vitali, clearly tensed. He never had his familiars taken away from him. No one had ever been able to do this, even Vergil when he tried to slice Griffon in half. This guy was surely stronger than he seems.

"When I summoned you all on the Velvet Room, your familiars tried to attack me, to protect you. I can't blame them, but I couldn't let them do." Was the answer the weird man gave him. He proposed to Vitali to talk to them, make sure they didn't attack him again while they talk.

He needed the Devil May Cry's help, after all.

"Why the Velvet Room need devil hunters' help?" Asked Vergil like he suddenly understood what happened to them and where they are. Dante and Nero were still utterly confused about the situation while Vitali started to think intensely about Vergil's words. "Don't you already have people to act for you when they're needed? How do you call them? Persona users?"

"Oh-oh, I see you already know about us, mister Vergil. It seems you learned much more during your crusade in hell than I initially thought." Was gladly surprised the man. How can his smile have seemed to become wider? "I will still introduce myself to your brother, son, and human counterpart. I think it's the least I can do after summoning you so suddenly here. My name is Igor, representant of the Velvet Room. A cognitive space, just like you said, mister Vergil."

"Okay, I know where we are now." Suddenly said Vitali, surprising his dear Nero. "However, I'm as confused as Vergil on the 'why' question. Sorry Nero."

"Don't worry, hon." Nero tried to reassure him. "At least, it seems we can trust them."

"Master Igor?" Called a young girl voice near to them. It was indeed an incredibly young blond girl, maybe ten or eleven years old, clads in a blue fancy uniform. The said girl was keeping a heavy looking door closed with one hand, a heavy grimoire in her other hand, close to her heart. Behind the door, heavy noises Vitali could easily recognize as his familiars' voices, especially Griffon and his big mouth. "I'm sorry but I don't think I can keep them out any longer."
