Crashing into the bed, Nero rolled his shoulders to crack them a little. Lazy, for once, he just stood a bit to take his boots, socks, tops and pants off. Then, he slides under the cover to cuddle with Vitali. His husband's back was a bit cold, which was not really good.
And it was his duty, as a good mate, to warm him up. And he wanted to be the best mate ever. To each of his consort: wives, husbands, all together. He loved them.
He loved them so much.
He didn't know it was possible to love like this. Especially more than one person.
The church always told them the only possible love was between a man and a woman. To bring a good household for babies... because they only existed to reproduce. So, for him, to feel the same thing for Credo and Kyrie, even if his reasons were so different, at the same time was another of his anomalies. So, he hidden his feelings for the older man, only expressing his love for Kyrie. Because, and if people said he wasn't worthy of her love, it was still normal for them.
But he was bad at hiding things, unlike the Sparda twins, and Kyrie and Dante quickly confronted him. He thought the both of them would look at him with disgust... but no.
Well, yeah, Kyrie seemed shocked to hear this but quickly turned to Dante to ask him if it was normal for demons like them. Since she knew he had a quarter of demon blood, she wanted to learn the most things she could, so she didn't make any mistake... like she felt she did when rejecting him by seeing his right demonic arm. Nero had to comfort her lot afterward, saying he had never been madded at her for the way she reacted... but anyway.
Dante's answer to Kyrie questions was a 'yes.' At least for some, the ones said of the "pack seeking" kind. A not so common kind of demon. Meaning his inner demon would try to gather people in a healthy polyamorous relationship, all in order to build a strong household for them and potential kids. Because those demons were also the parental kind. His inner demon would only let him fall for people he thought would bring some more stability to the household... or needed that stability to their own sanity.
And no, it was not that weird for a demon to pick into the same family. And no, again, those demons never forced their lovers into a romantic relationship like with them.
The real question was another: would Kyrie be ready to share Nero with Credo? Would Credo be ready to accept this kind of love?
Well... yeah... they could learn how to share... oddly enough, Credo didn't need much time to assimilate and accept the thing. His new inner demon was apparently eager to share his mate. Even with his own sister. Apparently, being able to survive his injuries, even after a week-long coma, made him more eager to compromise than he ever did. Clearly, this near-death experiment, added to the fact he became demon, changed him a lot. His love for Kyrie didn't change, he was just finally able to give his real love to Nero... and getting out of the closet with him. No one tried to bully him when he admitted being gay... only because their fear of Dante, Nero and Credo's inner demons were stronger than their disdain of him.
Then Nico entered the show. And Kyrie was the first one to wonder if she will join their relationship. She really liked that sexy and chaotic woman that became their gunsmith. It was a relief for her when Nero came to her with the demand of adding Nico to their household.
Always Kyrie first.
Credo was a bit reluctant, mainly because he was only attracted to men but also because some of her habits used to drive him nut, but he ended up accepting her. Even sharing one of her hobbies: bothering Dante as much as possible. She would smoke less; she'd be the perfect female friend for him.
They adopted a bunch of kids, wanting to hold foster care to special needs kids, and their household seemed complete.
Until him... until V.
He said to them he was only a couple of months old, didn't remember much of his old life, and was the only human they knew who was able to summon and control demons. To many aspects, he was perfect to them: he was the one Nero and Kyrie wanted to coddle, the one that make Credo feel less alone in this relationship, the one that softened Nico and makes her changes some of her bad habits. He was a good addition to their love.
They only had him for a couple of months but when they lost him, it felt like they lost a part of their world.
They knew he and Urizen had to fuse back in order to bring back Vergil... but damn, it hurts so much. Plus, they learned that Vergil was Nero's dad... making Dante his uncle... and Sparda his grandfather. Why did Dante never tell a thing?
After some time of mourning and thinking, they realise Dante's choice wasn't just a selfish wish but a way to protect Nero. To protect him from the weight of his inheritance: the glory of the grandfather's name, the shame of the father's one. Knowing Nero's self-esteem problems at the time, and how people in Fortuna treated the Sparda's name in front of him, all his life, this was clearly the safest thing to do. Even though that meant he couldn't say his nephew who they were for each other, it was for the best. Knowing Dante, it must have been a pain: a living, breathing blood relative was in front of him and him, he wasn't able to tell him a thing. All in order to protect him from this world.
The truth only came out to prevent Nero to commit the parricide.
When the twins came back from hell, the pain came back too. Seeing Vergil, while knowing what happened to V, their fifth piece, hurt them a lot. Vergil was also hurt when with them, V's memories and feeling still inside his head, heart, and soul. V who was still conscious inside of Vergil's soul, screaming and crying to be set free.
And set free he was. Alongside Shadow, Griffon, and Nightmare.
No one knew how he did, not V himself. One night, Vergil get to Nero's home, his body so weak from the effort it was a miracle he was able to reach out the house, carrying his half in his arms, unconscious. The old hunter was barely able to say a few things to his incredulous son, just after putting V into Credo's arms, before fainting too.
V only woke up the next day. Everyone cried out of happiness, hugging him thigh like he could vanish. Like it was only a dream. Vergil kept his eyes on them, still tired but glad of what he did. Well, Dante was mad at him first, didn't knew what his twin did but knew it was risky. But, in the end, he was only happy for the kiddo and his little family.
Since then, the household was finally reunited. They didn't feel the need to add another lover to their relationship. But they started to think about having kids of their own. Some people out of their household, who appeared to know more things than they should, tended to joke that V, quickly renamed Vitali, was the house's baby by being less than two years old.
Letting those bitches go, the quintet decided Kyrie would carry the baby, Nico didn't feel like it. And Nero would be the other parent, it wouldn't have been Credo for obvious reasons, and Vitali still didn't feel comfortable enough at the time to touch Kyrie sexually. Plus, the both of them were the officially married ones, so the final choice felt obvious.
Some moves in his arms snapped Nero out of his reveries. His husband, without waking up, turned around to move closer to him. It was nice. His life was nice. Having him back was good. He would cherish every moment with them, the loves of his life.
