They got everyone. Everyone from the Phantoms Thieves of Heart Team.
Almost.
One was still missing.
And this only one missing Phantom was their enemy's main target. Great. They hoped the stupid hunter didn't find him first. It would be nightmare to deal with.
And the night was here, the moon barely visible in the sky. Vitali was so tired, his legs shaking for the fatigue, that Nero would rather bring him back home. His husband was really in a bad shape, and it made him feel so bad.
They would probably let the research in stand-by for the night. They all needed some rest. And looking out in the dark would be a nightmare. The worst idea ever.
And Nero really had to take care of his husband. His inner demon was already screaming at him, calling him a bad mate, because his consort was not resting when he should. He will give Vitali extra coddling for letting him tire himself that much. Please, make Dante shut the fuck up with his sexual innuendos, they won't do anything of that sort, goddammit, before Nero snapped and finally emasculate him.
They were only a few steps away from the Devil May Cry. Nero was helping his husband to walk when they suddenly heard a voice behind them. It was a weak voice, rough and whispering.
"Excuse me. I heard you were looking for me. At least from what people in town said." Behind them, the man they were looking for the whole day: Arsène Lupin. Ren's body was in a really bad shape. Some of his injuries seemed to have been made by human's weapons... devil hunting human's weapons. It was a miracle that he was able to stay in a stand-up position. He laughed a bit, in a painful way. "Well, here I am."
Nero didn't need more. He rushed out to Lupin to pick him up when the one almost fell into the ground after fainting. He turned out to his husband. "Open the door, please. I'm just behind you." He didn't try to understand what Arsène was muttering in a broken French laugh. It was a miracle he was still conscious.
Nero was more worried about the fact his eyes couldn't stay open for too long. His body was way too cold from the blood loss. For a being that seems to fear cold, that was not normal at all.
Vitali opened the door in a rush, letting his husband enter first before closing the door behind them.
He really needed to hurry up before Arsène, Ren, passed out in his arms.
Inside, the other Phantoms where all here. Even Zorro, lying next to their oldest team member. When they noticed their leader, they rushed toward him to check-up on him, calling him out with so much fear into their voices.
Well, except for Valjean, still sitting on his couch, Zenkichi's body still weak from the blood loss. With one harsh order, he forced them to let Nero go. They wouldn't help their dear Arsène by acting this way. Not at all. He needed to rest. They all needed it, too. Seeing him talking to them this way meant he will not take well the slightest complaint.
Some just followed Nero upstairs to take care of their leader. The others got back to Jean, asking for comfort and hugs.
Vergil was confused, looking at the young man as his son get him upstairs. "Why weren't we able to find him before? And how did he know we were looking for him? He seemed to be looking for us." A question his brother had too.
But the Persona's recognize their leader. They recognize Arsène. That couldn't be a doppelganger. Right?
They hoped the other hunter wasn't the reason. Even though it seemed like the guy had found Arsène first. His injuries seemed to be human inflicted, not demon inflicted. They hoped not, but that was maybe why they weren't able to find him.
Well, they could only see with Arsène when he would wake up. And all healed up. He wouldn't be able to do anything good to himself by being so weak. No, not at all.
Well, at least they have them all together. They just needed to figure out a way to bring them back home. And that will probably be the hardest part of the contract. But they will find their way.
Like always.
