"You really love vanilla, huh,"

Cole watched as Vania bit into a vanilla cupcake, looking up at him with her beautiful blue doe eyes as she simply swallowed it down and smiled.

"Mhm. It's amazing. Because like...it's sweet but like not overly sweet such as certain chocolates. The taste is just generally pleasing as well. Better than chocolate and strawberries in my opinion," she said. Cole faked a gasp, clutching his chest in fake betrayal and shock.

"How dare you! Chocolate supremacy!" he declared. Vania giggled, and Cole felt the stupid fluttery thing in his stomach again. It was always that laugh - the laugh that instantly brightened his day, lifted his mood, and just made him feel so happy.

"Eh. Too sweet. Vanilla's definitely better," she said, sticking her tongue out and then taking another nibble from her cupcake. Cole rolled his eyes, taking a chocolate and popping it into his mouth, not bothered to argue in a debate he definitely wouldn't win. At least not against Vania.

"You clearly don't have chocolate often,"

"Well duh. I just told you I'm a vanilla freak,"

The two were currently at the park, having a small picnic since the weather was perfect. It was sunny, very sunny, so the pair decided to put their blanket underneath the shade of a sycamore tree as to not get attacked by the heat of the sun. The sky was painted a beautiful shade of maya blue, and there were a few white fluffy clouds in the sky too. There was a big large field of jewel green grass, and people walking their dogs or children chasing each other. Butterflies and dragonflies fluttered around the air, occasionally landing on flowers where they rested before flying off again.

"You know....despite talking to you for so long I still don't know your favourite colour. What is it?" Vania asked suddenly, turning her head to face Cole. The question caught Cole of guard, and he frowned for a minute, thinking and lost in thought. But then he looked up into Vania's eyes, and he knew exactly what his answer would be.

"Blue. A midnight-ish shade of deep cerulean blue," he answered, smiling. And it was completely and utterly true. Looking into her eyes, Cole saw a mixture of different shades of blues, twirled into a whirlpool with dark navy blue specks splattered across like the galaxy. The sunlight gave her eyes small golden flecks, like stars, and Cole felt himself get lost in this pretty little universe. It was only when Vania started talking again did Cole realise he was staring. He felt his neck heat up and start to sweat, causing him to reach up and readjust his collar a bit.

"That's pretty! Any specific reason?"

"Nope. Not really. Y'know....it's just a really pretty colour," he said, shrugging a little bit. But a small voice in the back of his head was screaming, and every inch of his body knew it was a lie - he felt it, his skin, his heart, his brain. Even his mouth felt weird from such an untruth. If only she knew why he actually loved this colour so. Why he can always see it in his mind, even when his eyes are closed.

"Well....my favourite colour is mint green. It's just so....peaceful and calming. But baby blue is a very very close second, because of the same reason. Gold is also very pretty, although I feel like it's too bold for me. White would be nice except it makes me feel so blank and-....... I'm ranting again aren't I?" she said, her voice faltering slightly. Cole immediately shook his head, his eyes widening.

"No! Of course not. Keep going, I like hearing you talk,"

Cole mentally cringed, but it wasn't a lie. He did, and he never understood why others hated her endless speeches so much. Why she hated them. It was always interesting, and Cole found himself hooked to every single word she said. Her voice was really pretty too, soothing and cheerful, and Cole honestly wondered if she was a runaway princess or something. It would suit her very much - her golden curls, her eyes, her complexion. Sitting next to her, she felt so regal, even when all she was wearing was a beige sweater and tights, her pale skin and slender figure was driving him crazy.

She was a complex thing that he could never understand. Vania was always so happy, philosophical, observant, yet she was still so sad, and Cole felt like that was something that connected them two. He knew what it was like to never belong. And although to him Vania was the living definition of perfection, Cole knew she wasn't happy with herself. That always confused him. But yet he still understood.

Vania was attractive, no doubt about that. It was a simple fact. But the fact that the people around her couldn't see it, that she couldn't see it, showed just how blind the world could be.

"I've always wanted to go to space," Vania said, her voice shaking him from his thoughts. He looked at her, and saw that she was looking up at the sky, her face relaxed and pensive. The sudden change of mood uneases him, but he stayed in his calm composure.

"Yeah well....I'm sure you'll be there someday," he said, also directing his attention to the heavens above, just like her. The two fell into a silent reverie, before Vania once again broke the silence.

"You know where else I've always wanted to go" she said, her eyes still glued on the blue sky.

"Where?"

She finally turned her head sideways to look at him, her eyes twinkling.

"The cliffs by the edge of Shintaro. I've always wanted to watch the sunset and stargaze there," she said, smiling. Cole felt his chest tighten again at her smile, and he smiled back at her, his senses tingling.

"Then I'll take you someday," he said, his mouth working before his brain could even comprehend. But he didn't regret the decision. Cole watched as Vania's smile widened and her eyes glittered happily.

"You promise?"

"I promise,"

A/N: Okay so....I know I said I wouldn't update today BUT I just got home from a class and I think I actually did pretty well on the test so I decided to treat myself and everyone else by writing a cute fluffy little chapter. It's the shortest of them all I think, only around 1,000 words, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. Updates will be much less frequent now that school has started because OH MY LORD do our teachers abuse us with homework. Anyways I hope you liked this chapter and byeeeeee!
