That's a very random answer you didn't see coming. Sure, he somehow is right but the way he says it sounds threatening.
You could swear his pupils turned into slits for a second.

"You're right but I can assure you that I am only participating in competitions and concerts and am not planning on rioting", you promise with a friendly yet distant smile.

Somehow Griffith is strange.
Of course you're grateful that you finally got to see the man who's voluntarily dating your cousin.
On the other hand you don't really want to meet him again.

You just came here for the music sheets anyway.

"Y/N, help me carry those things in the van so we can drive them to our new apartment", Sonia orders and doesn't hide the judgy side eye she gives Guts.

Wits. Sonia has wits to behave this childish around a lieutenant who carries ammunition in his hand right now.

Your gaze follows Sonia's index finger and you see a dozens tiny paper boxes. On each one is written in big, capital letters: Careful!

***

After transporting hundreds of boxes down the building it's nearly 6 pm.
You were planning on being home by now but you have a three hour car ride awaiting you. On top of that it's getting dark already.
Summer is about to come and most importantly the semester break but until then you have to be pacified with the sunset this early.

Fortunately you got almost everything ready. Only the mattress Griffith currently sleeps on and his personal stuff which he still needs is missing.
Tomorrow Griffith will be ready to move out and your cousin will no longer annoy you on your way home.

Really, you can't wait to get home, roll yourself into your blanket like a sushi in seaweed and listen to music all night long with only yourself as company.

Right now you're waiting outside the building for Sonia and her boyfriend to come down. You're leaning against the van, arms crossed.
You tap your foot on the ground in a rythme you just made up and await you goodbyes with a smile.

When eventually Sonia's silhouette appears in the door way you are not too surprised Griffith isn't at her side. He must be tired of her clumsiness and need of attention.

However a sinful smile is spread across her face. You notice that she doesn't have her bag with her and she forgot her jacket.
"Y/N, Griffy had a wonderful idea!", she shouts not coming down the stairs.

You dislike the tone of her voice. It promises no good.

"You know I'm really exhausted and I don't want or can drive for another three hours. I need a break. Griffith offered me to stay here tonight and you have to stay over, too."

Your mouth is agape. Your eyes bulge. Your heart drops an octave.
"You're kidding me, right?", you ask wryly and hopelessly.

That's literally the last thing you would want to do now. There's generally an antipathy to staying over anywhere but your own four walls. But having to spend a whole night accompanied by two narcissistic, self centered and lusting humans and a soldier who hords deadly tools in his apartment-
No.
You really wouldn't want that.

Sonia's smile falters. Her eyebrows furrow into an aloof, bitchy expression.
It's rare that she receives criticism or that someone judges a decision of hers.

"You should be grateful that they have been offering you to stay over. After all I am the one who drove you all the way just so you could grab music sheets from my boyfriend", she spats.
Then she turns around.

Of course, she's pissed that you dared to exchanged words with her man.
How could you be so egoistic and careless?

"Ask Griffith's friend where you can sleep", she orders dryly before leaving you back alone outside.

She doesn't even care to know Guts' name.

Your shoulders slump.
What a day.
You make an inner note to yourself to never enter Sonia's car again.

With a not so amused expression you return to the house and make your way upstairs into the apartment with the cool colors. If it weren't summer you would freeze.
Fortunately you don't have to live here ...

***

Griffith and Sonia really disappeared into Griffith's ex part of the apartment without degrading themselves to wish you a good night or anything. Guts, too, didn't show up anymore which makes you sadder than Sonia's betrayal.

You had eaten a slice of pizza an hour earlier because you thought to be able to eat a midnight snack at your place later on.
Now you sit in an half empty bedroom especially for guests and scroll through your phone looking for a nearby restaurant. You don't specify your search. Anything would be amazing now.

A second later you remember that you didn't bring cash with you so you sigh and stare out of the large window.

Can this get any worse?

As if destiny itself had listened to you a message pops up on your phone.
It's from your violin teacher.

Serpico
Good evening,
Sorry for the late disturbance but I have bad news. The summer competition in June got postponed to July due to technical problems with the stage. That means you've got to cancel or postpone your vacation and we've got to make a new practice plan.
I'll send it to you as soon as I'm done.
I wish you a wonderful night!

You could cry.
You literally could cry right now.
For months you've been looking forward to your summer vacation. It would have been the first one since two years and you really would have needed it. Ten days without anyone, without bad weather, without the same boring food, without violin practice or competitions.

You already know that there's no way you can postpone the vacation. Those would have been the only ten days you'd have time.

Due to the news you're not hungry anymore and decide to make yourself ready for bed. Of course you didn't bring anything with you. To your surprise the guest room has a guest bathroom connected to it and there are new toothbrushes as well as soap.

With only an underwear and your bra on - it's gonna be the most painful night of the year but you can't sleep naked in an apartment with a military member, your cousin and her horny boyfriend - you leave the bathroom again.

With a heavy sigh you reply to Serpico.

You
Alright, thank you for the information.
I'm deleting the old plan then.
Have a nice evening!

You fish out your earphones from your jacket and plug them in before returning to the bed.
This nightmare has to end as soon as possible. The only way to mentally find peace is by listening to your favorite artist and escape into a world of fake scenarios.

Without feeling really comfortable in your lend bed you close your eyes and let your mind drift into the depths of music.
