Ira's POV
I contemplated whether or not I should call any of my friends as I got into to the elevator but decided against it. I could only imagine what was possibly going in their minds. I breathed a sigh of relief as the door started closing. But at the last moment someone entered. And in panic, I throw my purse at them.
"OW! What the hell!?! Ira that hurtt." someone shouted.
I opened my eyes to see Sid standing in front of me with a red bump now forming on his forehead. Instant relief and regret flooded through me as I realized what had happened.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorryy. I didn't realize if was you!" I said quickly and inspected his bump.
He slapped my hand away and said "I'm strong! A small bump won't harm me" and smiled as he came over and hugged me.
"Are you okay? Please tell me you don't know that jerk upstairs who spoke bs about you?"
"Forget all of that. How did he become the boss?"
"To be honest I don't know. Johnson and his group just came out of his office and he was in tears when he introduced us to the new boss. I'm sure he must have ate a lot of sour pickles before meeting us because from the start he didn't smile once or even talk unless it was to criticize our work. He's one big asshole if you ask me. He said we "wasted" his time by coming to the building and that apparently we don't even know the basics of law investigation. He was pissed after you left though and I mean like crazy pissed. Are you sure you don't know him? And why in the world did he call you Mrs??"
I just nodded to everything he said as we reached the ground floor. I took off Kiara's jacket which thankfully wasn't stained yet and handed it over to Sid who's eyes were coming out of his sockets.
"Are you kidding me right now?? What the fuck, Ira! WHY THE HELL DIDNT YOU TE-"
I clamped my hand over his mouth to let him from attracting attention as others were already starting to look towards us. I turned the other way so my front wasn't facing them. I knew he was going to scold me but I didn't want him to get in trouble because of me.
"I know, I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier. But it's okay! I'm heading over to the hospital right now. Can you please just hand this to Kiara? It's hers and tell her I'll dry clean it if she doesn't need it right now. And could you also get the pills in the second drawer of my desk? Just keep it with you until we meet up. And I'm so sorry about your bump!"
"I'm not going to say anything right now but we are going to talk about it later, okay? And please just take care of yourself Ira. You know how much we all care about you and never forget that. Don't hesitate to call or text me if you need anything else. And noww I'm going back upstairs just because you told me to even though I want to come with you."
I thanked him and he kissed my forehead before waving goodbye.
