Ira's Pov

I've had enough of everything going around me. It was hard lying to my friends at work on what was going on. I did it for so long but now it takes all my self restraint to not snap at them when they started questioning things I told them I could not say.

Not to mention they have grown distant. Sid  was growing distant. The one person who I thought would be unbothered by this stopped joking around and refused to go to friend outings when I was there.

Ayu, who I had completely disregarded in this whole mess.. Who knows where she is right now. Or was the better question to ask; was she even alive? And who had taken her?

I had no answers. I was out of pills. Not the prescriptions. But the ones Eva had given me.

And the repercussions of not taking them were starting to show up very significantly.

I was randomly starting to heat up or cool down, my eyes slightly glowing, getting tremors, feeling dizzy, becoming flush.. Everyday new side effects were showing up.

And the funny thing was I didn't have a fucking clue on why this was all happening to me in the first place.

This is why I am currently standing in front of my temporary bosses office waiting to get called in to announce that I want to use my vacation days.

I had booked a flight to Ontario which was obviously out of the country but also not too far if I had to come back quickly.

"Ms. Arora you may come in." the voice inside the office says.

I release a breath I've been holding and enter.

This is the first time I have come face to face with my temporary boss and she was as old as someone's grandmother.

The type who would bake cookies, have a cat next to her and crochet in a rocking chair.

"Sit down dear. Please let me know if you would like to have anything." she says in a motherly tone.

Well that is what I assume her tone would be, as mine never acted like that but I had seen a ton of others act like this to their children.

"Thank you for your offer, Miss?"

"You may call me Adele."

"Miss Adele then." I say.

You may be asking why I asked for her name. And the answer to that was nobody had ever mentioned it. Her position to this title had just been announced and everyone would address her as Miss or just "Boss".

Her hair is a mix of grey and white, swept up into a French twist. She is wearing a pale pink cardigan, buttoned up white blouse that has gold buttons and a matching pale pink skirt.

"What was it that you wanted to ask me? I must tell you I do only have 5 minutes before I have to leave for a meeting."

"Ms. Adele, I just wanted to ask if I may use up 3 of my mental health days starting tomorrow. I have a lot going on and need time off for that."

"Of course! Just send me a physical copy of your leave so I can get someone to cover your work for you. I-"

A call interrupts her and she raises a finger to me before answering it.

"This is- Yes? Are you sure? What about- That is alright. When? Okay then."

What an odd call. I think.

I'm unsure whether I should stay or leave seeing she clearly is busy now.

Ms. Adele opens her computer and for a lady her age is is impressive how fast she starts furiously typing on her keyboard.

I guess I'll leave then and head towards the door.

"Oh I'm sorry! Were you waiting for me? What is it that you wanted to tell me?"

I turn around to see a now confused and stressed out Adele.

"Um, Miss, you said I could have those days off?"

"Ah yes! Unfortunately dear I don't think that is possible as of right now. My duties require me elsewhere so you must get it approved with your new boss. He will be here in.."

She looks down at her watch and then says "Around 40 minutes give or take."

"He ?"

Now who would this new boss be?

"Your previous boss of course! Mr. Ahmed is back to continue his role as CEO. I wish we had met sooner, you seem like a nice young lady here. But now if you shall excuse me I have a lot of work to finish before your boss comes back."

"Oh thank you, Ms. Adele." I say and unsure how to say farewell, I give her a wave.

Which in response to she gets up from her chair and gives me a hug. And pats my head.

"Take care, Ms. Arora."

I reply back and leave, not wanting to take up any more of her time.

Though as the door closes behind me I hear, "Oh why couldn't he have found her earlier. This is someone who I actually liked."

Not thinking about that statement much, I think of the bigger issue.

Aryaan was back.

How was I supposed to leave now?
