Aaron found it hard to believe that the day was here, the day of his ascension unto Kaley's throne. He slipped out of his bed tiredly, he had promised to visit Irisa the night before but was too hung up on doing one thing or the other to get to her. He had slipped into his bed at the wee hours of dawn and had fallen asleep as quickly as he could.Raymond woke him up again four hours later for the necessary preparation they had to make. He walked toward the lengthen golden mirror that stood tall not far from him. He looked himself over unable to believe that he was finally doing it, his dreams were finally coming true. His dreams were born out of hatred and pain. He knew that nothing could stop him, he was glad that he had followed Irisa's advice to come back to Harriton. He would have regretted it forever if he did not take the throne and stayed in Bayal.
"Your Highness," Raymond said bowing to him, a group of maids entered the room, carrying different items in their hands, jewellery, his clothes, and a pair of royal shoes only the emperor of the state wore. He turned back.
"Morning Raymond, any word from Eli?" he asked, looking at him through the mirror, Raymond shook his head, "I am sure he would update us as soon as they find something."
"How is Princess Pearl doing?"
"She seems content, she has not queried us about her mother or brother, I believe she must be faring well, and satisfied with your reign."
Aaron hummed and rubbed the light stumble that had appeared on his face, he walked to the other side of his bed chamber and watched as the maids started a bath for him. Raymond explained in detail the plan for the day.
He had spoken to the Kingmakers and they were prepared for the ceremony, he could still not believe that everything was going as planned, he wondered if the nagging feeling he had the day before would not leave him.
"Double the palace's security, make sure nothing goes wrong, this is the biggest day of my life Raymond, everything must go according to plan."
"Yes your highness, I understand," Aaron turned to him, "I am serious Raymond," Raymond nodded again.
Aaron entered the bathtub and relaxed, he sighed and closed his eyes, trying to calm down. He wondered how today would go. He was going to be presented to the public f the capital after the official coronation and a ball was to be held in the evening.
Since he had become the crown prince, he had not met the ministers or anyone, he sent words to them but it seemed like no one was willing to come to the palace. He knew no one had expected what had happened but sooner or later they would have to come back and fulfil their duties or he would give their position to other people and he knew that they were too greedy to let the position go.
He moved out of the warm bath, took the towel from a maid and started wiping himself off, he walked back toward his bed and pulled his undergarment from the maid, he started wearing it, quietly before he started wearing his shirt, his pants and a large robe that was flowing. The robe was custom-made for an emperor of the state.
He walked to his office chair and took a piece of cake that had been delivered by the palace kitchen. He munched on it and went back to the golden mirror, he took the jewels from the platter that a maid held, and he fixed the rings unto his fingers and gave himself a one over.
"The time is near your highness, the people are waiting in the hall," Aaron turned to the supervisor Li who was bowing, "let us go," he said.
He walked out of the bed chamber, and the maids followed him, Raymond joined him as he walked toward the hall, while supervisor Li told him who had arrived, but he wasn't interested in who was attending or who wasn't he just wanted to get the ceremony over with and forget about it. The ceremony was bogus and tiring and he still had too much work to do.
