FRANKIE
My feet have been killing me. Normally they do not hurt as bad unless it is craaazy busy and today happened to be one of those.
Now, I'm not complaining but I feel both mentally and physically exhausted.
After our last client and I sent the other barber's home, including Helena, I stayed back to do inventory. I knew I needed to do that and also figure out payroll along with the daily sales and services today, so I had made sure to message Raiden about it so he was not worried. Although I just knew he would freak out that I was here late and alone.
Helena had insisted on staying with me but unlike me usually telling her to, I knew she had a date with Markus and aside from him understanding, I did not want to keep doing that. So I sent her away.
While listening to some music and replacing my heels with some flats, I started doing some inventory up front with the products after closing the blinds and then headed into the back to see what more we needed more of there as well.
The moment I had finished, I began heading back towards the office to do the payroll and order some more things, as soon as I walked inside I was startled and nearly dropped my damn iPad when I saw Raiden standing there with his arms both crossed over his chest.
"Fuck! You scared the shit out of me!" I told him while reaching over at the wall and turning off the music.
"Why are you still here?! Alone?!" He asked in a demanding tone.
"I messaged you explaining I needed to finish some things." I replied while walking passed him and placing my tablet next to my laptop.
"I thought we made a deal?!" He states.
"We did but I did not want to bring all of this back to the house because then I would be up most of the night again trying to get this stuff done rather than finishing here, without distractions and being able to spend time with you before going to bed." I explained.
I sit down behind my desk and start to log in when he closes it.
"What the hell is wrong with you?! Why are you acting so childish?!" I asked, feeling upset now.
"Because you know damn well that no matter what the case is, you are NEVER to be alone here!" He states again in an assertive tone.
"Yeah well, I can handle things." I fired back.
"You didn't even know I was in here! How could even tell if somebody had come in here when you have loud music playing?!" He exclaimed.
"Why are you acting this way, seriously?! Did something happen today or what?!" I asked.
He paused for a second and looked away before looking back at me, shaking his head.
"Look, I just....I just don't want you here alone. We had made a deal and you know how worried I get about you." He says in a much more calm tone.
I right away begin to calm down and stand back up to walk up towards him where I take hisnhand in mine.
"I know you care and I don't want you worrying. I'm sorry." I try to apologize.
He glares at me for a brief moment before breaking into a smile.
"Don't let this happen again." He tells me.
Then before I can say anything back, he kisses me and we stand there sharing a long and passionate kiss as he holds the side of my face.
Then as soon as we pull our heads apart for a breath, he then takes out his phone and calls somebody.
"Who are you calling?" I ask him.
The next thing I know, he starts ordering us a pizza and some wings. How did he know that is exactly what I was wanting?!
We both stayed in the office, eating a late dinner and me finishing up everything I needed to before eventually heading towards home.
During the car ride over to the house, I felt the need to bring up how he responded when I asked him earlier about his day went.
"So what exactly happened today?" I ask.
"Nothing really. Just the same as usual." He replies again with the same tone as before where I can tell it was anything but.
"Raiden, I know how I told you before that there were certain things I did not care to hear, with how you handle your business but, that doesn't mean you can't tell me if you had something happen out of the normal." I assure him.
He did not say anything for a moment before letting out a breath and making me think he was going to tell me about his day and what had him snap at me the way he did earlier.
Now, I already knew that he would be upset knowing I had stayed behind by myself at the barbershop and that his reaction was somewhat understandable. However, at the same time, there was a more frustrated and agitation to his tone of voice that made me think he was not entirely upset mostly at me.
"There were some altercations and a missunderstanding with one of my clients. Nothing to worry about though." He tries to reassure me while raising my hand to his lips.
"You sure that is all?" I asked.
"Yes. I would tell you if it was something to worry about, but there's nothing." He smiles more at me.
"Alright." I replied with a smile and let it be. After all, I do trust him.
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
