RAIDEN
Life sure can change rapidly sometimes. Recently I have been feeling almost as though it has been going a little bit too fast.
Since there were no meetings or anything today, I thought I would catch up on trying to think of ways to cut ties all together for certain business matters that have caused some potential future issues.
Things felt a little weird being home and not having Frankie being here also. I swear, I do not know what I'd do if I were to ever stay home without her. I would probably go mad.
Thank God I have things to help distract me from all of that.
After I was finished making something quick to eat, I headed into the office and as soon as I sat down, I heard a knock on the door before noticing Markus along with a few of my guys walking inside with him.
"Hey boss." They greeted me after Markus walked in and told me they needed to speak with me.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"I thought you should know that Frankie's cousin has been found." One of the guy's, Reggie, states.
"Good. Where is he right now? Bring him here." I asked.
"Uh, well, that's gonna be hard to do, considering the fact that he's dead." Another one stated.
"Dead?" I asked not entirely feeling convinced. "Do we know that for sure?"
"Yes." One of my Reggie replies.
"And how exactly was his death determined? Were you both informed about it through a resource or did you both see his body?" I asked.
They all have me a look of bewilderment before answering.
"Well, at first we went through our resources and they showed us dental records along with photos. Though in fairness, the photos we saw were hard to identify one hundred percent but it looked like him, from what little we were able to identify." Reggie replied.
I needed to think for a moment. There was a part of me that felt as though possibly there was still something that was not right about this. However, I trust my guys.
"Do you have the photos and dental records?" I ask.
"Of course." The other guy replied while handing me the folder in his hands.
"Thanks." I tell them before sending them out and having Markus stay behind.
I then toss the folder onto the desk after skimming through the folder and leaned back in the chair while looking out the window in disbelief.
"What is it?" I heard Markus ask.
"Something doesn't feel right about any of this." I explain while shaking my head.
"You think they're wrong?" He asks me.
"Not that it would necessarily be their fault on purpose, but in a way, yes. This seems too convenient and I can't help but feel like I did the other day. This shit is old school and has an amateur touch to it." I explain.
Markus walks over and sits across from me while grabbing the folder and looking through it briefly before setting back onto the desk.
"I see your point. But what do you think we should do about it? Do you want to send them back to..." He started to ask until I interrupted and stopped him.
"No. There's no need for that. Least not right now. Although I am going to want everybody still on alert and to be aware more, in case this was a hoax or trap." I explained. "We will just have to wait and see what else this person has up their sleeve. Make sure that they aren't playing 'amateur,' if you know what I mean." I explained.
"Good idea. I'll let them all know right now." He tells me before getting up and joining the guys and closes the door behind him.
Once I found out all of that, I could not shake off the feeling I had and even began writing out different scenarios and I guess what you would call 'theories' as to what could be going on actually.
I began to look more closely at the photos and the dental records in hopes to find anything suspicious and try to cipher whether or not it was accurate and true or if this was a possible way to have me think that he was dead when in actuality he was very much alive instead.
No matter what, I am going to do as I told Markus and make sure that we continue to treat all of this as if this was a way to try and get me to possibly let my guard down only to be vulnerable enough where he makes a 'surprise visit.'
Either way, I will be sure to let the guys know not to tell Frankie anything. I would hate to let her know and find out that it was not true in the first place.
Throughout the rest of the day I was able to focus on what I needed to figure out and once I was finished, I had gone into the kitchen and prepared to start cooking dinner so that it was ready for when Frankie came home.
I told the guys to go out and have some fun so that way Frankie and I could have a nice little dinner together.
I have not been able to cook for Frankie as much as I would like to but am trying to make it somewhat of a priority to, especially when she works until late and I have been home already.
Besides, there is a new dish I have not yet cooked for her before.
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
