Throughout the next few weeks, things seemed to have died down a bit and while I had my guys looking out in finding the one responsible for the attempted hit on me weeks ago, in the meantime, I have been focusing on business as usual.

Thanks to the wedding planner, I feel as though everytime we speak with her she reminds me that she is worth the amount she charges. Not to mention how great it is knowing that she seems to get Frankie and I - including our style as well.

Today I had a meeting with one of my most respected clients and after being escorted into the man's home and into his office, I took a seat across from him and noticed a little bewildered look upset n his face.

"Is everything alright?" I asked.

"Before we get started, I want to address something that has caused a little bit of concern. Now I normally am not one to gossip, for I find it more respectful and mature, if you will, to tell something to one self about things. Which is why I am wanting to ask this once - for mainly clarification and if anything else also, to bring awareness to you." He began.

"Sure." I agree.

"Word has gotten around already about the attempted hit, weeks ago. Normally I tend to forget about things like that since it comes along with the territory and especially your title. However, there have been other things that have been brought to my attention recently in that I would prefer to hear from your mouth in particular, as to whether or not I should continue doing business with you." He began.

"And what exactly is the gossip?" I asked for pure amusement and not worried at all what it was about.

"The main thing is that I heard you are looking to be retiring very soon." He bluntly states.

Although that took me by surprise and has me wondering who would have begin that rumor, believing whomever started it was possibly the one behind the attempted hit on me, I had no time at the moment to even fathom whom it could be. So instead, I try and laugh it off.

"That is baffling, to say the least. Yet, like you mentioned moments ago, I don't believe in gossip and trust me, if I were retiring, you would be hearing it from my mouth. So do not worry. And before we continue here, may I ask where you get your gossip from?" I asked with a raised brow in curiousity.

"I have my own resources. Besides, we both know how gossip begins." He smirked.

I did not tell him nor did I show it upon my face but deep down, I am now going to be looking at him suspiciously because I can sense that he does not believe me entirely.

"Yes we do." I replied.

After we both next shared a moment of awkward silence while continuing to look at one another, he finally smiles more and we begin the meeting.

That is something I always must think about when in my position and the title I have so rightfully earned. Many will try and do everything they can to break and destroy your life and anybody else in it. Therefore, I am not too surprised with such childish behavior. However, at the same time, I am never amused and refuse to condone it or play such an immature game.

Once the meeting was over with and both Markus and a few of my men were on our way back towards the house, I began trying really hard to think of who could be behind all of this.

"Everything alright boss?" The driver asks.

"Yes." I replied.

"Do you have any thoughts on who could be behind all of this?" Markus asks.

"Not at all. Although there is a part of me that feels like they are a bit amateur and possibly new to this whole thing." I proclaimed.

"And what makes you think that?" He asks.

"Well, for one thing, the approach. It's an old one. Sure there may still be a few idiots out there who believe in pure gossip but the ones who are like me and who understand this kind of a lifestyle and how things truly work, they never would've done that." I explain.

"So we are dealing an amateur?" He suggests.

"Possibly. Either that or somebody who is trying to purely fuck with us by exciting a failing plan. No matter who it is, I will be sure that a clear message is sent and reassuring any others who listen to gossip, in regards to my so called 'retirement,' others will learn otherwise." I smirked.

"That is why you're the boss. The best there is in the business." Markus commented.

"Damn right." I replied.

"You know, do you believe by any chance that it possibly could have been someone who knows Frankie?" He asks.

"Like who? Everybody she ever knew is dead." I tell him.

"Except for her cousin, Chester. Maybe he has hired someone to try and get back at her by getting to you." He mentions.

"That is not possible." I tell him. "Now let's drop it." I tell him.

"Of course." He replies as we pulled up in front of the house.
