chapter 10.

"yeah, that's everything i told him" kie says. "okay... well. i'm proud you, stick up for yourself, don't let him lead you on or shit... but remember, he's got a point. he wants to be different but he doesn't know how" sarah says. "that's why i gave him a few weeks" kie says. "you okay?" sarah says, putting her arm around kie and pulling her into a hug. "yeah, i will be" kie says. "anyways, have you spoke to your dad?" sarah says. kie waits to answer as sarah gets to the front of the queue. "just a coke, and a sprite please" sarah says as she hands the guy some money. he takes it and gives her the two cans. "thanks" sarah says. "uhm, not really. not since before midsummers. he asked me to meet her, and i didn't answer him. since i went home i've just been ignoring him. making sure i'm asleep by the time he gets back from work. and avoiding him at work" kie says. "you're gonna have to talk to him at some point" sarah says. "i know. i just don't know what i'll say yet. i don't want to meet her, and i'm still mad. but i know how much it means to him, so i guess i'll consider it. i just don't know how i'm gonna forgive him for keeping it from me for this long. or how i'm ever gonna see him with anyone other than my mom" kie says. "yeah, i get that. it was the same for me when my dad got with rose, but i ended up respecting her" sarah says. "you all hate rose" kie says. "i don't hate her, she's just too bossy. but i respect her, for my dad. and she isn't always that bad" sarah says. kie laughs as they reach the boys again, who are sat on the grass a few rows back from the outdoor movie screen.

"why the hell did you drag us to this shit" jj says. "it's not shit, jj. shut up" sarah says as her and kie sit down. jj looks at kie, but she avoids eye contact. it's only been 3 days since their conversation in kie's bedroom, but they both miss each other a lot.

sarah hands jj the can of coke. "thanks" he mumbles. "guys, we're getting totally eyed right now" pope says, looking backwards. they all turn around to see topper, rafe and kelce staring at them. "what's their problem?" jj says. "he's just a dick" sarah says, turning her head back around. kie does the same. "tell me about it". "sarah i feel bad that you share a name with him" john b says. sarah chuckles. "i feel bad for myself" she says. "jj, what did you do?" kie says. jj furrows his eyebrows. "what do you mean?" he says. "have you been starting beef with those three?" she says. "uh, no" jj says. "jj!" sarah says. "they came at me, getting all gobby" jj says. "saying?" john b says. "stuff about my dad and shit" jj says. "so that's why they're eyeing us right now?" pope says. "yeah, probably" jj says. "they better not try anything" john b says. "something tells me they're gonna. just stay away from them" sarah says. jj nods.

about an hour into the movie, jj and pope decide they need the toilet. "rafe, topper and kelce are blocking the toilets!" sarah says. "we can just tell them to move" jj says. "jj! i told you, stay away from them. keep the peace" sarah says. "then what am i supposed to do? piss myself?" jj says. sarah rolls her eyes. "jj, we'll just go over here" pope says. "wait, i need it now too" john b says, standing up and following them. kie and sarah both shake their heads. about a minute later, topper, kelce and rafe walk past sarah and kie, towards where john b, pope and jj are. sarah and kie look at each other. "that isn't good" sarah says. "no, it's not. let's go" kie says. "are you sure?" sarah says. "we have to help them" kie says. sarah nods and kie grabs jj's bag. they both walk towards behind the cinema screen, and begin to hear grunts. "for fucks sake" sarah says as the two girls find the boys all fighting. "what are you guys even doing!?" kie says as her and sarah run towards them. they all ignore her as jj and rafe continue throwing punches, kelce has pope in a headlock and topper and john b were throwing punches. "cut it out!" sarah shouts. pope starts coughing. "kelce let him go!" kie says. sarah runs over and tries to get kelce off of pope, meanwhile rafe now has jj on the floor, punching him. "oh my god" kie says as she runs over. "rafe, get off!" kie shouts. "stand back kie, you're gonna get yourself hurt" rafe says as he continues punching jj. kie stands behind rafe as tries to pull him back. but he just pushes her back, causing her to fall. "kie!" sarah says, still trying to get kelce off of pope. kie realises her and sarah are no help right now, so she looks through jj's bag. she feels something hard against her hand and grabs it, and before she knows it she's holding a gun. her heart drops, but she looks over and realises kelce is literally going to kill pope. she digs deeper and grabs a lighter. she looks over at john b and jj, who are both hopeless now too. sarah is still trying to get kelce off of pope. kie puts the lighter underneath the movie screen and lights it. after a few seconds, it catches fire. "kiara!" sarah shouts. the fire runs along the bottom of the screen and people on the other side of it start screaming and backing up. kie starts coughing as she grabs jj's bag and moves back. the fire grows up it and soon the whole screen is on fire. "kiara! what the hell!?" sarah says as she runs over to kie. kelce, rafe and topper all back out of the fight and start to run away, leaving the three boys on the floor. pope coughs slightly and then stands up. kie coughs before going over to jj, and sarah goes to john b after pope gets up.

"did you really just set that on fire?" jj says as he sits up. "are you good?" kie says. he spits out a bit of blood before nodding. john b gets up with sarah and pope. "what happened!?" sarah says as her, john b and pope walk towards jj and kiara. "they came over and starting saying shit about you guys. mainly kie, jj lost his shit, punched rafe, then..." john b says, holding his hands out at the movie screen. "saying stuff about me?" kie says. "yeah.." pope says. "do i even want to know?" kie says. jj shakes his head. "about your mom too..." john b says. "i don't- i don't wanna know, what they said about her" kie says. "why the fuck would they start saying things about kie?" sarah says. "to get to jj" pope says. "what did they say about me? not my mom, me" kie says. "that you're a whore" pope says. "pffttt. kiara carrera a whore? come on" sarah says. "thanks sarah" kie says. "and that you're a slut" john b says. "oh so just, basic boy to girl insults then" kie says. "yeah. don't take it to heart kie. you're not any of those things" pope says. "yeah, they were just trying to wind jj up" john b says. "yeah, and you let him" kie says, looking to jj. "let's get going" sarah says, putting her arms around john b and pope, walking away. kiara turns to jj. he stands up and she grabs his bag, remembering there's a gun in there. she wants to talk to him but decides to leave it until after jj is cleaned up and fine. they go back to the chateau, and sarah grabs the two medkits. kie and jj sit in the bathroom while kie uses one on jj, and john b and sarah sit in the living room while sarah cleans john b up. pope went to sleep in john b's room since he didn't have any injuries.

"all three of them are assholes" sarah says as she pours some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball. "yeah, tell me about it" he says, pulling his shirt off. there's a few cuts and bruises. sarah presses the cotton ball to one of the cuts and drags gently.john b hisses at the pain but he eases to it slowly. "why did you get involved anyways?" sarah says. "what do you mean?" john b says. "the fighting was between, rafe and jj, right? what got you and pope involved?" sarah says as she puts a bandage on one of the cuts. "uh, well... topper and kelce did. so me and pope did. we gotta have jj's back, he's always got ours" john b says. sarah nods.
