"What can I do to make it up to you?" Toshi asked you for the thousandth time that week over the phone.

"Toshi, for the last time. You're okay. You don't have to do anything crazy."

"But I want to show how grateful for your forgiveness." He says to you.

You jokingly rolled your eyes. "Alright, how about we go out to dinner?"

"Even better, I'll come by and cook for you. I'll get all the ingredients, some sake, anything you like," Toshi suggested.

"Alright, sounds interesting." You say.

"Just inform me about any food allergies and anything else that's important."

"Don't worry, I will." You say while looking out the window.

"I have to get going, but I'll talk to you when I can." He says.

"Alright, later." As you tossed your phone on the couch, you couldn't stop the huge smile from forming.

You took advantage of the time you had before Toshi arrived to cook dinner by tidying up your place.

This was officially your second date, and you wanted to ensure things went well this evening.

After freshening up, and finding a nice outfit, you heard the doorbell ring.

"I'll be right there." You called out as you hurried out of your room and to the front door.

You take a deep breath and turn the knob.

"Good Evening, (y/n). You look nice," Toshi greets.

"You look nice yourself. Let me give you a hand with those." You grabbed some of the grocery bags Toshi had in clutch.

"I might've gotten carried away." Toshi chuckled nervously.

"That's alright, you know I love to eat." You sat some bags on the island counter and faced Toshi.

"I have just about everything you need in the kitchen, pots, pans, cutlery. If you need to find anything in particular, I'm right here." You informed.

You sat on one of the bar stools as Toshi rolled up his sleeves and washed his hands.

"Do you need help with anything?" You rest your arms on the island counter.

"I appreciate it, but I don't want you to lift a finger this evening." He says.

"He's so old-fashioned." You thought.

He poured an ochoko of sake for you and then started on dinner.

(a/n: Ochoko is a little glass to serve sake in)

The aroma of spices filled the room as you and Toshi talked it up and shared stories.

"Would you mind tasting this? Want to make sure it's not too salty." He holds the wooden spoon towards you.

You lean over the counter and taste the sauce. "That's amazing."

"You're not just saying that, are you?"

You looked up at him and smiled. "It's the best sauce I've ever tasted."

"Only of the freshest ingredients."

You sat down at the table as Toshi added the finishing touches.

"Here we are, the finest pasta in Japan." He presents.
