Chapter 9

Trapped
Mia never said anything,she was a lover of sports.Her eyes were glued to the game, watching the foot ball move from one end of the field to another.

They kept on charging up with each minute passing by they got more stronger and braver and scored one which made it a draw 2-2 and the first half ended.

Everyone drew a sigh of relief and waited for the second half to continue.The teams had to opportunity to plan on how to get to the goal.

"I do play football sometimes"Alex admitted.

"You do?"Lya asked with surprise.

"Yes but it's been over months since I last practiced"he continued.

"How do you expect me to believe you,I've never seen you play before"she said.Ohhh they just met.He wasn't Louis remember?

"You will"he said as he brought out his phone as he showed Her some of his football videos and from the few she watched,he was a skilled one.

"Then why didn't you offer to join the team?"she asked concerned.

"I just came remember?"he grinned.

Oh that was true,she always forgot that he just came.Maybe there was really something strange about him.

But her conversation wasn't relaxed.All through the recess before the second half,she had been thinking how Louis was faring.She knew that louis was getting tired because he scored the second goal and in the process he fell hard on the ground and when the referee came on to him, he was ok then.Although,she knew he wasn't okay,because she knew he wouldn't want to look weak.Imagine the best player of the team leaving just because of a fall,like,who does that?

The second half began,with the home team and the visitors team charging at each other like wounded lions.A boy in the other team scored a goal,five minutes into the second half,and that made it 3-2 with the visitors team charging wildly with the hope that they had won,hope was almost lost when the other team had tried to score another goal to equalize but had failed.

Ten minutes to the end of the second half,another player from the home team scored a goal which was from a penalty kick.Equal and resulting as a tie again,it was 3-3.And shimmers of hope could be seen in everyone's heart as they all waited for the next goal that would reveal the winning team with four goals.They didn't notice a player from another team who dribbled the ball from louis to collect the ball from Louis and in the process, using his elbow to knock Louis off balance and Louis crashed down with his bones twisting to it's breaking point.The referee rushed to him to discover his right arm was dislocated not after giving the other player a yellow card.The players were at a loss on how to find a competent player who would take his place because Louis couldn't play without a dislocated hand.Louis was the best football player in the school.And the other replacements weren't good enough.

And Alex left his seat to meet the school football coach.

"I can help sir"he said.

"You're a new student who I haven't supervised before so how am I going to entrust this responsibility to you."said the coach who was apparently stressed out.But after watching the same videos that Lya had earlier watched,he was rest assured that Alex could help out.And Alex was given permission to play with the team.

"There's no time I won't disappoint you"he said as he took the cloths to change and came back.He jogged to the field with anticipation in the hearts of the audience.The best player of the home team had left and a new comer had come to replace him.Lya could see the secret amusement in the players of the visitors team.All the students stared at the new intake in awe as he jogged in the football field to save the school.
