***"... besides that I'd like a croissant and a cappuccino- oh and do you by any chance have a bowl of water for.."
I pointed at Dixen and the waiter nodded with a smile.
"Of course"
He said and pet Dixens head before heading inside to get my order.
Ten minutes later I had placed the bowl of fruit and a cream cheese bagel with tomatoes and cucumbers on the side, infront of Sam.
I was aware that as a one and a half year old he wouldn't be eating all but I liked to let him choose what his body needed at the time and for that some amount of variety was needed.
I myself was enjoying a croissant with butter and strawberry jam along with my cappuccino.
Dixen had drunken some of his water but then layed down to rest between my feet.
Sam was passionately enjoying his food, making a mess of manageable size.
Whenever he looked up at me I gave him a reassuring smile or said something he didn't really understand in a baby voice.
Twenty minutes he was busy munching, then he was satisfied and I cleaned his hands and mouth with baby wipes before doing the same with his stool.
Then I collected his left overs and ate them while Sam uncomfortably struggeled in his chair.
When I was done I took him out of it and placed him back in the prem.
After playing with him for a bit at the bearby playgroud, I went for a little walk so he would take a nap.
And after buying myself an iced matcha latte to go I setteled on a field on the side of the river.
As Sam was sleeping and Dixen peacefully playing with the water between little naps, he took next to me I took out my computer.
Enjoying the fresh air I began reading an article about the brains function and after that I took one headphone in to watch a short documentary about the molecular structure of neurons.
I remembered most of it but just studying the subject I had always been passionate about made me feel happy.
I remembered how I was so anxious about even getting a place at the university with biology major and how I cryed out of joy when I got the acceptance letter.
Looking back I wouldn't have been so happy.
Now I knew that my dream would never actually come true.
I finished the documentary and took some notes on the only free notes app I had once found before closing the laptop.
"Time to get back"
I whispered to myself and whistled for Dixen to come over.
Time to head back and clean the house before I would start preparing dinner.
I sighned contently as I started walking back home, pushing the cart on which I had wrapped the leach around aswell.

When I had carried the prem up the stairs and rolled inside the appartment I released Dixen first before unbuckeling Sam.
"My dear"
My Nona surprised me by walking out the living room.
"I have a little surprise for you"
She smiled and I looked at her with surprise written on my face.
"Nona, what a lovely surprise to see you"
I said with a big smile then I went over to embrace her.
"Hello my darling"
She said, holding me tigh while petting the back of my head.
It was that exact moment when I knew something wasn't quite right.
"I have cleaned up for you already and I got us something to eat"
She said and I felt endlessly thankful to have her.
"I- Nona that is the best surprise in the whole world!"
I said, overflowing with happiness.
"Thank you so SO much!"
I said, hugging her again.
"Everything for you"
She whispered and I felt that heavy knot in the pit of my stomache again.
As we headed into the living room I placed Sam on his playing blanket and sat down on the sofa next to my grandma.
We watched our favourite TV show for an hour.
Then I changed Sams diper before I placed him on the sofa next to me while I was playing Scribble with my grandma.***
"I won!"
Grandma shouted and I chuckled over her.
"So close!"
I said and she smiled at me.
Her eyes were darted on me when I packed up the game and I felt the air around us get heavier.
"What did he say?"
I asked quietly and my Nona scooted closer to me, taking my hand from my lap into hers.
We had specifically avoided the subject of Nonas doctors visit earlier, which managee to worry me sick.
I was now certain that something was up.
"My beautiful girl-"
She started petting my hand with her thumb.
"I have highly considered not telling you this because I know it will make you sad.
But I've come to the conclusion that it would be for the best if I didn't hide something like this from you.
It's important for you to know so you're prepared for the next years with you and Sam"She said and I shook my head slightly, already feeling my eyes getting watery.
"No!"
This couldn't be true.
"No he said you still had three years"
I said and my None smiled sadly.
Short and painful
Sorry I needed to add some drama..
