25. first goodbye

When I slowly started to wake up I sighned, snuggeling into the warmth surrounding me before blinking my eyes open.

I smiled immediatly when I recognized Max laying right there next to me, our legs entangled and her arm snaked around my waist.

I could wake up like this every morning and life would be perfect.

I checked on Sam quickly, pulling the blanket out of his sleeping face a little.

It was hard to get up but I urchently needed to pee so I wiggeled out of bed, extra careful not to wake either of the two sleeping ones.

As I dried my hands I decided to brush my teeth real quick aswell, rushing back to bed immediatly when I was done.

Maxs eyes were still shut and her face relaxed as she slept.

I snuggeled back under the blanket, scooting close to her like I had been when I'd woken up.

I smiled as I looked at her face.

She looked just so vulnerable and beautiful.

I smiled even more as I brought my hand up to her face, gently cupping it as I allowed  myself to trace her soft skin with my thumb.

I'd never experienced such intimacy with another human before even tho I had have sex in the past.

This was different.

This was a feeling that couldn't be put into words.

I mustered Maxs even features, her long lashes that seemed to be curved perfectly and that little mole at the very top of her nose.

I let my eyes take in the thin layer of light hair, covering her face, making her look so natural and soft.

I allowed myself to look at her lips that were slightly parted and had to remember the way they felt against my own.

Then my eyes travelled back to her eyes that fluttered slightly.

I gave in to the urch of pecking her nose gently and earned a content grunt in response as Max blinked her eyes open.

As she smiled at me with squeezed eyes and a slightly swollen face I decided that this Max right here was my favourite.

"Good morning"

I smiled over at her and she pulled me closer, smiling whidely as she pecked my forehead.

"I gotta pee"

She then informed me in a raspy voice that managed to make my body tingle.

I giggled over her bluntness as Max already forced herself out of bed.

She left a sense of loss behind and I already awaited her quick return.

I'd never expected this.

I'd always been so independent but with Max I felt like a child that didn't want to be left alone.

I heard her brush her teeth and smiled to myself as I recalled last nights conversation.

Of course the highlight had been the words 'I love you Casey', which managed to make my heart flutter just thinking about them.

But also the rest of our conversation had left me feeling appreciated and important.

I couldn't actually explain it but it was something you didn't get from talking  to most people.

Max always listened to me like what I was saying was some kind of important mystery she needed to memorize.

I loved how attentive she was.
