Episode 9: Flight of the Mothman

The Caretaker had been put on trial in the Dread Sector under the jurisdiction of the Halxis Alliance. The Protector arrived to hold her old friend accountable for his murderous past, only to lead to a death sentence for Caretaker. She realized the hypocrisy of the sentence and immediately attempted to interfere. A regeneration had been triggered, but she stopped him from being killed altogether and allowed him to escape to his TARDIS before being taken by Halxis guards.

Guards began to surround the Protector, dragging her away. "YOU HAVE TO LIVE, CARETAKER! LIVE!" She screamed at the Caretaker's disappearing TARDIS, literally kicking and screaming.

The guards carried her out of the court as chaos ensued, the audience demanding answers and the Halxis representatives furious.

The live feed displayed on the monitor of the Protector's TARDIS showed her being taken away by the guards, allowing for Vansilla to observe the aftermath of the ruling.

Watching from the monitor, Vale noticed that the Halxis guards were going to drag the Protector away. Running out from the console and through the Tardis doors, Vansilla rushed to help release The Protector from custody. She leaped over and tackled one of the guards onto the ground, removing the weapon from their holster in the process. Grabbing the gun, she aimed over at the other guards who still had the Protector in their custody. "I'm warning you, let her go! Now!" She threatened.

"Stand down, citizen, or you'll be taken in with her!" One of the guards unfolded a futuristic gun and pointed it at Vale.

"Easy, boys, she'll do it! She's serious!" The Protector said.

"If she's an associate of yours, she doesn't have the spine for it." One of the guards began to approach her, believing that Vale was bluffing.

"Look, I'm warning you! Let my friend go and there won't be any more problems, alright?" She said, getting up on her feet as the soldier approached her. Vale primed the gun, keeping a steady lock on to the guard as he drew closer and closer. "Please, I don't- I don't want to hurt you, but I will if I have to!"

The guard got close and snatched the gun away from her, but the Protector had elbowed both of the men holding her arms and gotten free of their grip. She placed her fingers underneath the guard's helmet and pinched a pressure point, knocking him unconscious in an instant.

She looked at Vale. "Run!" The Protector spun on her heel and sprinted towards the TARDIS, grabbing Vale by the wrist as they ran. The guards chased them, opening fire.

The Halxis citizens were beginning to spill out into the outer corridors as the court session had been adjourned. The Protector maneuvered around them as she rushed into the TARDIS, pulled Vansilla inside, and slammed the doors shut. The guards were forced to cease fire, as to prevent injuring one of the many citizens blocking them from the TARDIS.

"Never know when a bit of Venusian Aikido might come in handy." The Protector looked at Vale with a smile.

"They were... going to kill the Caretaker, weren't they?" Vale asked, seemingly out of breath after the rush of her attempted rescue. "There was no plan to put him away to some penitentiary, they were going to murder him right there in front of the crowd!"

"Afraid so. I managed to stop that, thankfully." The Protector waltzed up to the TARDIS and began flipping all switches up. "Speaking of thanks, I owe you one." She looked back at Vale. "You saved me back there. They probably would've executed me if it weren't for you."
