Before I knew it, I was infront of Mr. Matthews, slightly knocking. I heard a soft response of "come in" which was all the permission I needed to enter the room.

The AC was on and as soon as I stepped in, goosebumps had shot straight through my body. I bit the inside of my mouth to try and ignore the cold air being emitted through the machine.

He looked at me and his gaze met mine, "Ah, Mrs. Andrews. I was just about to look for you. Take a seat, please." He said, his hands directing me to one of the 2 leather seats infront of his desk.

I complied and ignored the way the cold surface had collied with my skin.

He took out a file out of his drawer, and slid it to me from across the desk, a sound was made during this action.

"Take a look and tell me what are your thoughts."

I took the file off the desk and placed it on my lap, opening it and carefully reading through each of the pages in the light brown folder.

After a few minutes, he broke the silence. "So, what are your observations?"

I bit my lip and took a deep breath to get myself together.

"The sales of one of your branches have been steadily declining each month, between the digits of $10,000 and $25,000. This was a pattern over about 7 months until last month, you lost approximately $66,000 and this month $75,000 and through these 9 months, there are no records to where the money has gone." I said, examining the document then looking back at him.

"Is there anything else you notice?" He titled his head to the side, leaning forward allowing his muscles to flex.

Not now, Parisa

I held eye contact with him for a while, then looked back at the document.

I checked everything. The original amount of money there was, how much has gone missing, the timespan and if there was a reason for the amount of money to have gone missing, what else am I not seeing here?

My eye caught the banking details. How could I forget about this? I mentally make a note to always remember banking details when checking these documents.

"The bank account... it changes every month."

"Attagirl."

My heart skipped a beat and I subconsciously pressed my legs together.

"I'm thinking that one of the accountants managing the account are fucking with me. I'd take legal action but that usually takes a while so I'm planning to take matters into my own hands."

My heart stopped and the colour was draining from my face. Was he going to...

I heard a light chuckle, "I'm kidding. I'm not going to kill anyone." He must of seen the colour drain from me.
