Blue as The Ocean

Chapter 8

I woke up with a shudder. That dream was horrible! Am I really going to have a "Secret Love '' when I'm older. I really hope that dream doesn't come true. I swam out of my room and through the tunnel to the ocean. I grabbed a fish and swam back through the tunnel. I was swimming calmly when I was suddenly blinded. I was thrown against the wall and I screamed in pain. Whoever was doing this was going to pay. I flashed my scales at full brightness and twisted out of the grip of my captor. I ripped off my blindfold and looked around. There was no one. The water was getting cloudy from my blood and it was getting hard to see. I swam up to the surface and I flew up to the Summer Palace.

"MAMA!" I yelled barrel rolling into her.

"WHAT?" she yelled back.

"I HAD AN AMAZING NAP!" I yelled again.

"Wow that's awesome but why are you yelling?" she said, hugging me tighter.

I decided not to tell her that I was attacked. I knew she would worry even more. But what about Skua? Is she okay? This was a horrible situation. I just hoped that Skua was ok, Dada hit her pretty hard.

"Mama? Where is Skua?" I asked.

"I'm not sure. The last time I saw her she was going down to the Deep Palace." she replied.

I dove into the water and quickly swam down to the Deep Palace. I swam past all of the rooms until I got to the one where Skua was hit. There she was. Her face was bruised and still bleeding.

"Skua! Are you okay? I saw my father hit you!" I flashed.

"Yeah. I'm fine but my snout hurts really bad." she flashed back. I nodded and signaled for her to follow me.

She followed me through the rooms until we were outside of the Deep Palace. We flew up to where Mother was. I looked over my shoulder and I saw Skua's eyes welling with tears.

"Oh there you are Lapis!" Mother exclaimed. "Your father is dead."

"W-What?" I stuttered, starting to cry. "But he escaped the SkyWings!"

"Yes but he just went out to gather some more fish and our guards found his body." my mother said sadly. "I'm so sorry darling. I miss him too."

And just like that I collapsed on the floor, crying uncontrollably.
