Chapter 10 | Hanni's magic

December 19, 20XX

Christmas is coming dangerously close now and I'm still frantically searching for the perfect gift for Minji. I've been racking his brain for weeks, trying to come up with something unique and special, but so far, I came up empty.

Yesterday Hanni and Hyein were successful with convincing me to confess but I know that's not enough.

I'm aware that school is a place to learn yet I have been very frantic these past few days that I spend most of my time thinking of my gift for her instead of paying attention to class.

'God I need Hanni's help again'

Tapping my own pen on my notebook repeatedly. I pulled out a sticky note and wrote: "need your help on something urgent" and crumpled it in a ball and quietly threw it in Hanni's direction.

Hanni's POV

'Man why did I agree to this girl's proposal again'

Earlier before classes ended I received a note from my best friend Y/N asking me for help on something.

I thought it was something school related that I just absentmindedly agreed. No, It's not that I'm the most studious student but Y/N has definitely been one - being a constant school achiever with nothing but schoolwork and sports in mind -  so who could've thought that her favor, instead of being academically related, is something relationship related.

'Jesus Christ it's not school related at all, it's about Minji again'

Sighing in acceptance, I watch as Y/n walks through the mall, scanning the storefronts for inspiration. She stops at a jewelry store,  everything there is within her budget, yet she can't choose anything to gift for Minji. She takes a look at everything, but nothing seems quite right.

'My god so indecisive'

Having enough of her brows furrowing in deep thinking, I nudged her side, pointing at a specific necklace that caught my eye.

"Hey I think this one suits her the most, the color compliments her skin well, plus it's her favorite color too!"

Noticing it, she hums in agreement.

"It does... let's check it out"

With this, we made our way into the jewelry store.

"Hello nice to meet you sir, say, how much is it? " She asks quickly greeting the guy managing the store.

The man smiles in acknowledgement

"It's quite an expensive one, may I know who it is for?"

Not missing out on the opportunity to tease her, I answered "hahahaha sir my friend here is about to give it to her future girlfriend"

Her face became red and looked the other way to avoid any sort of contact to hide her embarrassed figure.

His smile grew further and replied
"I see is that so? Hahaha What a thoughtful kid you are...well about the price, It's about 17, 769, 86"

My eyes grew bigger in utter shock, I couldn't believe what I just heard. There's absolutely no way that necklace costs that much?

Despite this, Y/N didn't waste much of her time thinking and immediately bought the necklace without a second thought.

'Excuse me, what the actual heck?? did she just buy that like it's a piece of candy!?!'

Without even a minute later the man already had the necklace prepared in a neat box with some other extra stuff in it.

After making the impulsive decision of buying probably one of the most expensive necklaces here in this mall, we made our way out of the jewelry shop. Everything is supposed to be okay now, yet I Couldn't help but notice that Y/N still looks dejected.

"Hey why do you look so sad?"

Hearing my question made her stop walking  "Well, I... I still don't think it's enough for her. She might think i bought the necklace to show off and she might think it's not genuine or something-"

"Wait wait hold on there, let's take a sit first" I said cutting her off.

We sit down on a bench and I pull out my phone.
"Take a breather, I have an idea"

She soon followed and sat so I started absentmindedly scrolling through Minj's Instagram account for photos, hoping to find something that might spark an idea. In all honesty, I have not even a bit of an idea on what may help her, but seeing my friend like this I couldn't bring myself to tell her the truth.

Y/N and I are friends the same amount of time as Minji. She has always been known to be the calm and collected type. We rarely see her struggle in anything, so seeing her worried like this made me want to do everything in my capabilities to make this whole scenario work.

'haah... Things I do for these idiots, why don't they just confess to each other'

That's when I came across a photo of her and Minji at a beach picnic last summer. In the photo, they're both smiling, their hair blowing in the breeze. I remember Minji telling me how happy and carefree they were at that moment. Suddenly, an idea came in my head.

Giggling, I called her name "hey Y/N-ah here's my plan..."
