I could feel the wind on my face, it was exhilarating.

My heart beat faster every time our speed picked up. The force of the wind was intense as we accelerated, but with the Ikran's mighty wings, we pushed through.

A soft trilling of my Ikran made me lock eyes with him, He was challenging me to go faster.

Banking a bit to my left to steer us away from one of the floating islands, I looked for open space through the Hallelujah Mountains.

The surge of excitement I felt through our connection made me smile.

'I guess it would be a Shame not to test our limit on our first flight'. I thought as I accepted his challenge.

Hearing him screech, we leaned forward and braced as we met stronger winds on our flight upwards.

When we were high enough, He suddenly dipped his head down and tucked his massive wings back.

The rush of adrenaline surged through our connection as we plummeted down.

I lowered my upper body closer to his neck to enhance our aerodynamic form.

Surprisingly, everything just felt natural. I did not need to think much, all I needed to do was feel and trust in our Tsaheylu.

We continued to fly and practice our synchronisation by turning in multiple directions until we reached perfection. It did not take long though. We were indeed meant for each other.

A Familiar yell from behind made both of us turn our heads. My Ikran hissed at the rider who interrupted our flight but it only made my smile wider.

I felt the rush of blood to my cheeks as I tried to hide it by looking ahead again.

We were flying slower and steadier now as we anticipated the incoming company.

I patted the side of my Ikran's neck to calm his irritation. 'Be nice to him, I wouldn't be successful with my rite of passage if not for this warrior'. I thought but all I got was a hiss in reply.

It sounded less hostile, though, so you can count that as progress.

A distinctive dark blue Ikran flew beside us, I tilted my face slightly to glance at his rider.

I touched my forehead lightly and extended it towards him."Oel ngati kameie, Tsamsiyu". My smile was wide as the greeting was returned.

"Karina, you have done well". The smooth tenor of the speaker's voice as he said my name made butterflies dance in my stomach.

I could no longer hide the blush on my cheeks as I felt the gaze's intensity.

My Ikran let out a short but sharp shriek to gain my attention, not wanting to be left out. This made us both chuckle.

The beautiful moment felt surreal like it was just a dream——

Karina's eyes opened as she heard the cryo-chamber next to her hiss open. Her heartbeat still drummed but the adrenaline was starting to fade away as her vision focused on the ceiling of her pod.

A sigh escaped her lips and she closed her eyes trying to remember the face of the rider but now that she was awake, it was just a blurry image.

'What was that about? I thought cryosleep was supposed to be dreamless'. She shook her head but soon groaned as she regretted the motion, it made her feel a bit dizzy and nauseous.
