If he had the money, you were sure Tom would have bought a camera to capture your expression. It must have been a good one because it made even him chuckle.

But how could you be blamed? You were going to Hogwarts! To an actual magical school! You'd no longer be stuck in this tiny place with so few people.

No offense to Amy Benson because she was actually a friend. You often doodled, puzzled and played games together. Her buddy Dennis Bishop, on the other hand, was a completely different story.

Tom was not a hugger, but because of the fact you spent most days in each other's company, maybe that was the reason why he tolerated you throwing yourself on him. Your arms wrapped around his slender neck, your envelope still in your hand. You could barely contain yourself, the sheer excitement radiated off of you.

"(Y-Y/N)... The excitement..." Tom puffed out as your tiny arms were putting pressure around his neck. "Merlin, it's killing me..."

"Oh!" You gasped, then pulled away and let him go. Tom's perfect hairdo was no longer perfect, messy at the front, and he was inhaling and exhaling rapidly to regain lost breath.

"Sorry!" You apologized, growing red in the face at the fact you nearly strangled him. Your voice was embarrassingly soft. If that had been anyone else, you definitely wouldn't have been standing unharmed. You could see he needed to restrain himself from doing anything.

Especially when the door to your room flung wide open. You whipped around, your lips pulling into a tight line when you were met with the sight of a chubby brown haired boy and a blonde girl.

"Hi (Y/N)," the girl greeted you with a little wave.

You raised your hand and twinkled your fingers awkwardly. "Hi Amy." Then you looked to the person to the left of her. Dennis didn't greet you, which wasn't all that surprising. Even standing on your tippy toes, you couldn't see what he was holding behind his back.

"Hey freaks."

You supposed that was his way of saying hello. For the many years you've lived in the orphanage, Dennis made it no secret that he didn't like you, but for some reason, he especially had it out for Tom.

Tom, who he happened to be looking at with that same hate in his way too circular-shaped eyes. "How's it going freak? Did you do any more freaky things together?"

You took a step forward in defense of your friend. "Can't you be nice to us for once?!"

"Whaaa!" He mock-bawled. "I can, but I won't! Especially not to the ugly duckling over there!"

Tomlooked surprised for a split second before the spark was smothered by apathy. Both boys stared each other down for some time.

It was always the same thing, Dennis mocking Tom who always took it quietly and dismissed it. That dummy couldn't for the life of him leave you two alone, and even he had a few years on you, Tom behaved a lot more adult-like than Dennis ever did.

Your gaze briefly connected with Amy's, her emerald eyes filled with regret. She was such a nice girl, you didn't know why she'd associate herself with a punk like him.

Dennis's grin widened until he flashed his teeth, the front ones being much larger than the rest. Slowly, his arms appeared from behind his back and you gasped.

He was holding the drawing you'd made for Tom at the very start of your friendship (you weren't sure if friendship was the right word for it, but you hoped that that was it). To make matters worse, the boy also held a pair of of scissors in his other hand.
