"He called you a what?"

Alyssa's tone crackled with disbelief, anger, shock, and sadness, compressing all her emotions into a single sentence.
The carriage rumbled along the winding path, its wheels grinding over the gravel road. The glow of the lantern illuminated discarded candy wrappers strewn between your feet, their vibrant colors muted in the darkness.

It was a surreal experience, but Will's revelation left her reeling. "He called me a mudblood."

"No way," Alyssa gasped, her disapproval merging with the rhythm of the carriage's movement. "That's... Unbelievable. We gotta tell the Headmaster!"

You were still unfamiliar about what exactly the term meant. "Guys, I'm sorry but... What is a mudblood?"

Her body stiffened in a sudden freeze-frame. She stared at you, her mouth hanging open, until piecing together why you weren't familiar with it. "Oh, right. Sorry, (Y/N). I forget sometimes that not everyone grew up in the wizarding world." She nervously nibbled on her cheek, waiting a minute to explain the harsh truth. "A mudblood is a nasty word used to insult someone with non-magical parents. It's a slur that tries to make people feel small and less important just because their family isn't 'pure' magical."

Calling someone a mudblood was an unforgivable offense. It wasn't just about insulting one's lineage, it went deeper than that- attacking their very identity and worth as a person. You couldn't imagine why Abraxas would stoop so low using such hurtful language.

The space between her eyebrows narrowed as she kept talking, her red hair blazing with her anger. "We have to report this to the Headmaster. It's wrong, and Malfoy needs to face a punishment for it."

You agreed wholeheartedly. This couldn't be swept under the rug. It was important to stand up against discrimination, even in the wizarding community.

Will was a lot more guarded, hesitant to fully commit to the cause. "I don't care what that guy has to say about me. He's way more busy with (Y/N)."

You picked up a discarded Chocolate Frog wrapper. The packaging reminded you of happier times, when you didn't have to worry about something as serious as discrimination.

Her head bobbed at what Will said.
"That's so true. Does he fancy you or something, (Y/N)? I swear he's tailing you!"

"W-what? N-no way!" The idea of him having feelings for you was crazy-or so you thought. You nervously tucked a strand of (H/C) hair behind your ear and looked to the moonlit forest beyond the carriage. "I... I mean, we have a complicated history, but that doesn't mean he likes me," you firmed your lips into a pensive line at the thought. "Besides, his words against Will are far more important right now."

"Thanks (Y/N)," said Will. The clacking of hooves on the dirt got louder as the carriages picked up speed. The silhouettes of the trees blurred past, but your focus remained on the conversation at hand. Alyssa voiced her distrust in no uncertain terms while staring at the cart three away from yours, where one blond head stood out between three darker tresses.

Will suddenly remembered something. "We shouldn't. Remember what we saw before vacation?"

Your Gryffindor comrade got the reference within seconds. "That was mad sus."
