A beam of sunlight leaked through the curtains of the window, the light radiating from the sun speckling across your face as you peacefully slept. The duvet was currently only pulled up to under your chin, making it easier for the light coming in from the curtains to shine on your face. Your skin drizzled with a yellow bright tint and felt warm, causing a content sigh to escape your lips.

You woke up to the sound of a door opening and closing. You groaned, annoyed at the fractured peace. You lifted your face off the drool filled pillow and as your eyes opened, a string of drool was dripping down the side of your mouth. You quickly wiped it away.

You couldn't quite make out the figure standing in the middle of the room since you only woke up seconds ago. The only thing you could make out was a blurry blob of gray, white and orange, even with your eyes squinted. You rubbed at your eyes with your knuckles. Now you were able to tell it was Alyssa, who was dressed in the full Hogwarts uniform, her arm rapidly moving back and forth as she brushed her teeth.

When her eyes landed on you they glittered when she noticed you were awake. ""Grdmornighng!" Her lips couldn't touch with the wooden tooth brush lodged between them, which made it hard to articulate properly, but your brain roughly translated the imcomprehensible word to "good morning".

"Good morning..." You made no effort to hide how tired you were as your jaws stretched into a yawn. It was easy to blame yesterday's busy schedule for the fact you felt as though you were going to fall asleep again any second now. You wondered why she was up this early. It was Sunday so there was nothing special planned for the day.

Alyssa pulled the toothbrush from her mouth so she could speak and you wouldn't have to make a vague estimation as to what she was saying. "Why are you still in bed?"

"Why aren't you?" You returned.

A short silence slipped in where she stared at you, surprised, and you stared at her, puzzled.

Tapping the head of the brush against her lower lip, she responded casually, "It's expected of us to be up now," then her gaze turned to the authentic grandfather clock standing next to one of the bookshelves. "-And Potions class is going to start soon."

You squinted at her. "It's Saturday. The first day of school was yesterday."

Alyssa stared at you for a couple of seconds longer as if trying to decide whether you were being serious or not. When your confused expression didn't change, her eyes closed and she began snickering. "(Y/N), that was three days ago! How did you forget about an entire weekend?!"

Your mouth fell open. "You're kidding?"

"For your sake I wish it was! But no, I'm not. Potions is starting soon and you slept through breakfast already!"

You sat up faster than should've been possible for a girl who had, just a minute ago, been sleeping like a log. You jumped from your bed, throwing the covers off of you. You raced back and forth past the Gryffindor who didn't move from her spot, pushed the brush back into her mouth and continued brushing her teeth in silence. Well, mostly silence. There was the thundering of your footsteps on the hardwood floor.

Within minutes you came bounding back into the bedroom, clad only in tube socks and dark underwear. Your roommate's laughing and nearly choking on her own mint-scented spit throughout your struggling certainly didn't help, but you couldn't think about that. The only thing you could think about was the many punishments professor Slughorn was going to subject you to for being late on the first lesson of the year.

Alyssa giggled, then shook her head disbelievingly. "Calm down! Professor Slughorn is super nice from what I've heard. But if you wanna keep stressing..." She turned and closed the door to the adjacent bathroom behind her when she walked away.
