The end of November had finally arrived, and with it came the eagerly anticipated final Quidditch match of the year between Gryffindor and Slytherin. As you woke up, you could feel the cold winter air seeping through the crack under the door, sending a shiver down your spine. Set to embrace the day's excitement, you quickly hopped out of bed, layering yourself with extra warmth. The realization hit you like a bolt of lightning.
"The game! The game is today!" you exclaimed, unable to contain your excitement.
Despite only having started at Hogwarts in September, which now felt like a lifetime ago, the thrill of each Quidditch match never failed to stir a bubbling eagerness within you. In order to cheer for your team, you adorned a cute knitted hat and raced down the stairs, already envisioning yourself soaring above the crowd yourself.
Arriving at the Quidditch stadium, you joined the throng of students from all Houses, gathering along two sides that lined up for the bleachers, facing each other. The stands were filled with passionate fans, their scarves draped proudly over their shoulders, their colors a sea of green and silver for Slytherin and red and gold for Gryffindor. Among the crowd, you spotted some of the teachers who had taken a break from their responsibilities to revel in the magical spectacle. It seemed like the entire school had turned out to witness the intense match, and the distant towers resonated with an old song, announcing the long-awaited showdown between the rivaling Houses.
The buzz of anticipation in Hogwarts hadn't been this palpable since Halloween!
Finding a spot next to some older Gryffindors, you were warmly welcomed by then. Although Alyssa's bed was empty when you woke up, indicating she was already here, there was little hope of spotting her amidst the sea of faces. The older Gryffindors chatted animatedly about previous matches, pointing out the teams already mounted on their brooms, ready to take flight once Madam Hooch's whistle signaled the start of the match.
Each player seemed prepared for a magical aerial combat, no mercy was given or expected from neither team's leader. Even from higher up you could still see it-the any-means-necessary attitude written clear on every face on the field. None of them were going to hold back.
The atmosphere grew electric with each passing moment until, finally, the whistle blew, heralding the start of the long-awaited Quidditch game before the winter break.
As Madam Hooch gave the signal, bludgers soared high into the sky. The sixth-years assumed their positions mid-air, with the keepers speeding towards their respective goals with unwavering focus. The sight of them zooming around in synchronized chaos was breathtaking, prompting applause from the crowd-everyone except those clad in green, loyal supporters of the Slytherin House.
Gryffindor took the lead, eliciting a chorus of cheers from one side of the stands. Your team's leader, Gillian Warmslay, maneuvered gracefully around his opponents, expertly dodging bludgers and effortlessly scoring a point against Slytherin's keeper.
"Woo! Come on!" You shouted, your voice filled with unwavering support. "You can do it! Woo!" Gillian zoomed past with the quaffle in hand, scoring once, twice, thrice! He was on fire, and you screamed in triumph along with everyone around you, jumping up and down, waving flags and banners adorned with your House colors.
"You're enjoying yourself, eh?" chuckled the Gryffindor beside you.
"Yes!!!" you exclaimed, never taking your eyes off the match. Slytherin retaliated, shifting
Slytherin swiftly shifted to the offensive, resulting in a tied score of 60-60 with ten minutes remaining until half time. Suddenly, your attention was captured by a movement at one end of the field, where Kate O'Neal scored a remarkable goal for Gryffindor!
