Dimitri just wanted to destroy everyone. His sole purpose was to reach Edelgard and rip off her head. Nothing more than that. His old companion and the stranger with the book were just a nuisance. He kept looking at the Empress with an expression that made him look like a beast more than a human being.
Without making a further gesture, he leaped forward, wielding his spear with all his strength to attack his rivals. The blow was aimed at Marianne. In Dimitri's eyes, he had to eliminate the woman who caused him guilt and doubt about what he was about to do. Marianne was horrified. She couldn't even think articulately. She was just paralyzed, waiting for the blow.
Leonard dodged the attack using the same spear as Dimitri's. He would enter his own game to prove the heir to the king. He instantly noticed the difficulty in repelling it. The force man applied in the attack was not human; his anger pushed him beyond what was possible. Leonard used all his strength to make him back. Immediately, he took Marianne in her arms to keep her safe from that guy's attack.
Dimitri, no longer caring for the pair, lunged at Edelgard. Some of her soldiers prepared to defend her. It took no more than thirty seconds before every one of them died. Petra, Hubert, and Ferdinand lashed out to protect her. They took turns attacking Dimitri. Despite hurting him, he did not blanch or back away. The truth is that he was possessed by rage stemming from his traumatic memories.
Felix, Sylvain, Ingrid, and Mercedes intercepted the group of Empire warriors, preventing them from defending Edelgard. It was left to Dorothea, Bernadetta, and Hubert to protect the Empress from that beast. Leonard wanted to address the group to contain the heir to the king of Faerghus, but a magic attack hit him squarely. It was Cornelius who had attacked him.
"I cannot allow you to do anything but be imprisoned by me."
Without saying a single word, Leonard summoned the sword Blutgang and approached the Bishop. Marianne instinctively followed him. They both headed toward their enemy.
"Defeat as many as you can, but don't wear yourself out!" Claude yelled from the air next to Hilda.
The boys had brought their winged beasts with them in case they were needed, and they were. Dimitri was still attacking Edelgard and the others, joined by the Faerghus army. Meanwhile, the monks of the Church of the East were approaching to attack the members of the house of the Golden Deer.
Marianne quickened her step. She rushed towards a group of monks to confront them. Leonard was surprised to see how easily she resisted and managed to defeat them individually. The strength of her physical and ranged attacks with her thunder sword was not expected. She was also exceeding the limits of her body.
"Don't force yourself!" the boy yelled, looking at Marianne. "There are several of us who can fight!"
Marianne decided to slow down. However, she was able to tell that more enemies were coming. She was forced to back up a bit. Leonie was fighting several monks on her horse but backed away as she was surrounded. Raphael, at her side, kicked her horse in a gesture desperate to return, and not precisely because of the enemy. Immediately, they all fled. Leonard quickly took Marianne in his arms so that he could join the boys who had fled.
The next thing seen on the battlefield was a group of flaming bodies falling to impact a large part of the Eastern Church army. It was a magic attack by Lysithea's Meteor, who decided that she should advance her participation in battle.
A haze of smoke covered the place for a moment. As the cloud dissipated, the army saw a lone figure approaching the group while the surviving monks fled. It was the figure of an older man. It was indeed Cornelius who was able to withstand the magical attack due to his resistance.
