The Almyran soldiers were closing in on the Fódlan's Locket as fast as possible. They expected it to be a difficult battle and that there would be strong resistance from the people of Fódlan. Prince Shahid had promised them an unparalleled triumph. This is because the three critical leaders of the continent were gathered there. That way, they could conquer all of Fódlan in one fell swoop.
Little did they care about all that. Politics was for the royalty and the nobles. They cared about bringing gold and food home to support their families. A couple of soldiers were able to spot something or someone approaching. They thought it was a guy on horseback because of the speed with which it was coming them.
They quickly notified their superiors, who assumed that it was an emissary. One of the lookouts, however, was able to notice that it was a person who was running surprisingly fast.
"Sir!" the soldier shouted, terrified. "It is not an emissary! It is a soldier who comes running at an unheard-of speed!"
"What nonsense are you saying?" The captain hit his subordinate on the head. "Are you blind or too dumb to think..."
The Almyran could not finish speaking as he and all the surrounding soldiers were cut down by a hail of spears that rained down on them. The attack must have killed about fifty troops on the spot, and more waves of weapons would come their way.
Holst was looking through a spyglass at what was happening. "This is going to be a carnage. This is not the way to defeat an enemy," he muttered as he continued to watch. Hilda came flying on a wyvern to the lookout post. Claude accompanied her on another winged creature.
"We're going to stop Leonard!" the girl yelled at her brother to get him to react appropriately.
"Are you sure? I don't know if Leonard can tell friend from foe right now."
—We must do it! —Claude yelled before picking up his pace and taking his wyvern away from the fort.
Hilda was about to follow her partner when someone yelled at her. It was Marianne. She had already recovered from the attack and wanted to accompany her to catch up with Leonard.
"Hilda, take me with you!" Marianne screamed with all her might.
"Are you sure?" Hilda was worried about how risky it would be to approach Leonard in that state.
"Totally!... Let me ride your wyvern!" the girl moved closer to the wyvern.
"Yeah... Get on!" Hilda offered her hand to Marianne, so they both flew over to Leonard.
Meanwhile, the rest of the companions made a cadastre of those alive. They had all made it out of the attack alive. Bernadetta had been attacked on the arm, also being helped by Hubert. Faerghus's allies advised that Dimitri was accompanied by Mercedes, who would care for him and keep him in his cell.
They agreed to leave for the battlefield. Edelgard, Ferdinand, Petra, Ingrid, Leonie, and Sylvain would go on horseback to make Leonard understand. They were followed by some soldiers on horseback and others on foot to press and defend themselves.
On the battlefield, the Almyran soldiers could not defend themselves in any way. Most fled or fell to the ground hoping not to be killed. Some managed to save themselves, but many did not have the same luck since a wave of spears and broadswords formed a wall that did not allow them to escape. Leonard would have plenty of time to kill his enemies individually.
Claude crossed that landscape without even looking down. There were no arrows that crossed his path. His enemies were no longer such; he was just a terrified mob trying to escape. Hilda and Marianne caught up with him at full speed. They were already closing in on Leonard.
