KAT'S POV
After I told Kyle I'd give him a chance he asked me to go on a date with him. That date is tonight and I still haven't told Abby about it. I know she'll be pissed off that I didn't call or text her as soon as it happened, but I had other things on my mind. I know it sounds horrible, but I couldn't stop thinking about Aiden. What has been killing me the most is that he ran off right after we kissed. I shouldn't be thinking about Aiden when I have a date with Kyle tonight.
I decided to call Abby because I needed help picking out a cute outfit for tonight. Kyle told me not to dress up too much so I definitely need help. Abby picked up on the second ring.
"Heellloooo." sang Abby into the phone.
"Hey Abs, well I kinda have a date tonight and I don't know what to wear." I said as fast as I could to hopefully distract her from the fact that I have a date, but as soon as I realized she was silent for a few seconds I knew she was about to start yelling.
"A DATE?! AND WITH WHO?! AND WHY DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT IT SOONER?!"
"I'm sorry Abby. i would've told you sooner, but I had so much going on in my head it just kind of slipped my mind. Please forgive me. I really need your help tonight." I practically begged her to come over but I knew that if I didn't she wouldn't come over.
"Fine. I'll be over as soon as I can, but this doesn't mean that I forgive you. You'll have to make it up to me at some point soon, but for now I won't make you suffer."
"Wow thanks Abby. See ya in a few." She said goodbye and we hung up.
When Abby finally got to my house I was sitting in the middle of the floor in my room with my head in my hands. Three quarters of my wardrobe was strewn around the room due to my hunt for the perfect outfit. I had already showered so all I had to worry about was putting some clothes on.
Five minutes after she walked in Abby walked over to me and said "Here. This should work." She picked out a cute blue tank top, white jeans, and brown sandals. (PICTURE FOR CHAPTER)
I went into the bathroom to change into my outfit. The jeans were comfortable and so was the tank top. I slipped into my sandals and stepped out.
"You look so pretty Kat." Abby said with a smile. "I did good with the outfit once again." she added while brushing off her shoulders one at a time.
"Yeah. Yeah you did."
"So how did Aiden ask?"
I was nervous to tell her it wasn't Aiden who asked me out, but Kyle instead. "Uh Abs? Yeah about that.. Kyle asked me out.. Not Aiden."
Her jaw dropped and she stayed silent for a few minutes. "You're going on a date. With Kyle. THE BOY WHO RIPPED YOUR HEART OUT AND STOMPED ON IT IN THE FOOD COURT?!" she said, her voice raising with each word.
"Yeah. That's the one." I said slowly waiting for her to explode again.
"Yeahhhhhh no. This isn't okay. I'm not saying this to be mean, but you're going to get hurt. You're my best friend and I want you to be happy, but he's not gunna let that happen for very long."
"I understand that you don't want me to get hurt, but I have to do this."
Abby grabbed her things and started to walk out. On her way out she stopped, turned around, and said with a smile "Call me when you get home or if you need me. I'll be doing nothing just in case."
Shortly after Abby left Kyle showed up to pick me up for our date. He was wearing dark jeans and a black shirt. As I was not so discretely checking him out, I noticed he was doing the same to me.
He looked up and said "You look great, Kat."
I felt myself start blushing as I said "Thanks, so do you."
He opened the car door for me and closed it once I was in. He hopped into the driver's side and we were off. When I asked where we were headed he laughed and told me he felt bad because it was in the mall. It was the Cheesecake Factory. I wasn't upset because I was pretty sure Aiden wouldn't be working tonight.
As soon as we walked in I saw Aiden. You have got to be kidding me. We were seated and looking at drinks when I hear a familiar voice speak.
"Hi, I'm Aiden and I'll be your server tonight. Can I start you off with any drinks?"
"Yeah. I'll have a coke please." said Kyle who was oblivious to the situation.
"And you Miss?" Aiden asked with an edge to his tone and I internally cringed.
"Uh, I'll have a shirley temple please."
"I'll be right back with those" Aiden said with a forced smile and walked away.
It was going to be one hell of a night.
