Chapter Two

~Lissa's POV~

I was filling out some papers in my office when I started to feel pain all over my body. I was about to call for help when I heard a voice in my head saying, "Mom, help me please."

I immediately knew it was my daughter calling me. I tried to see what was happening to her, but all I saw was darkness. I rushed to call, but there was no answer. I called again, and I heard the voice of a man. He was saying that my daughter had been in a terrible accident. I asked him if there were any guardians, but he said that she was the only one in the car. When I heard those words, I ran out of my office with my guardians behind me telling me to slow down, but I couldn't because my daughter had been in an accident with no guardians to protect her. I stopped and told half of my guardians to get Christian and meet me at the entrance of Court, and I told the rest to come with me.

-A few hours later-

We reached the hospital, and since Aleks had given me Layla's room number, I ran directly into the elevator and pushed the button with the number 4 on it. After a few minutes, I heard a ding, and I ran out of the elevator looking for Layla's room number when I heard Christian say, "Lissa, Rose, I found it."

I ran in Christian's direction and saw Rose coming my way and James getting out of the elevator when I opened the door. I ran to hug my daughter but saw that she was confused, and when I heard her ask Aleks who we were, I noticed she had memory loss, and that broke my heart. Then Doctor Alvarez came in. He asked Layla how she was doing, and she said okay. Then he asked Christian and me to go outside the room so he could tell us her condition.

He said, "Your Majesty, Layla has memory loss, meaning that she has forgotten most of her childhood." I started to cry because my daughter has forgotten most of her life.

"I also wanted to inform you that since we had to take a bit of her blood, we noticed that your daughter is...pregnant. I felt a wave of stress wash over me as my vision started to blur, and the last thing I remember is Christian trying to catch me before I hit my head.
