I'm bit anxious about seeing her abuela. I mean I've already met her, but not as her official boyfriend.

I pull into the drive way of her house that is surprisingly close to our future house.

We get out and I grab her hand and interlock our fingers. She gives me a smile and I relax. We walk up to the front door and she rings the bell. We hear footsteps and then a grumpy voice, "Quién diablos es-"
(Who the hell is-)

Her grandma stops, whatever she was saying when she saw us. Then her eyes drifted to our joined hands. A smile beamed on her face.

"Dios mio! Mi amor, is he your boyfriend?" She asks excitedly.
(My God, my love)

"Abuela, let's talk about it inside, sí?"

"Of course, of course. Come on in my dears." She closes the door and leads us to the living room.

"Would you like something? I can make something. Silly me, it won't take lon-" Soph interrupts her.

"Abuela, we didn't come so you cook for us. We just wanted to talk to you." Her grandma still looks like she's ready to bolt to the kitchen and make something if one of us says the word.

I clear my throat. "It's nice to see you again, ma'am." Her head snaps to me and she smiles again before coming closer and pinching my cheek.

"Hello cariño. What brings you two here?" She asks and we all sit down on the couch.
(Dear.)

"Well, to answer your previous question. Grandma, meet my boyfriend, Ryder." Her grandmother let's out a lout squeal and squeezes us into a hug.

"Oh, this is wonderful! You are perfect for each other, I knew it since the two of yous dance together at the party. Why aren't the family celebrate?" The woman's English isn't perfect and she has a strong accent.

We pull back and Sophia looks at her nervously. I take her hand in mine and her abuela smiles at the move. "Because you're kind of the first person we have told."

"I always knew you like me best." I let out a chuckle at that and so did Soph.

"And also because the others wouldn't like this very much. Johnny was very clear at stating that he does not want me near Ryder."

"Who?" She now has her back to us as she grabs some kind of sewing kit from a box that's supposed to contain cookies.

"Your grandson?"

"I have a lot of those so I only keep track of my favorites."

Soph rolls those beautiful eyes of hers and I look at her a little bit too long.
