Delicate Hearts

Nine

Addison felt the blood rushing through her veins as she drove to Derek's. The pain in Meredith's voice had hurt her inside. She had warned him. She told him how delicate Meredith was. She told him how this was a big step for Meredith.

Derek wasn't usually like this, Addison knew that, it was a bigger reason to why she was so angry with him

She hastily parked her car, her fist slammed against the door of Derek and Mark's house. Mark answered the door atleast two minutes later, he looked sleepy. 

"Where is Derek"she hissed, 

"Jeez Addison. He was called in. Why what time is it"He yawned.

"Half nine, Mark. She is so upset"Addison sighed as did Mark.

"He is going to be so pissed off. He said no but they needed him urgently. Fuck let me call him"Mark allowed Addison in. Mark dialled the numberof the man he considered a brother.

"I know the time"Came Derek's voice. "Don't say anything Mark please. Don't I am heading to her now okay, I am pissed as hell" He sounded angry, he wasn't an angry person.

"He is pissed"Was all Mark said "Coffee"He offered. Addison nodded, worried about her friend.

Derek however was speeding down the highway, he had never felt any anger like it. He had planned this night to be perfect for her , he had waited his entire week for this moment.

He had barely parked when he grabbed what he needed and ran to the door, the entire place sat in darkness. His fist lightly thumped the glass. 

"Mer"He called out, he expected her to ignore him, but Meredith wasn't like that. The light turned on, the locks moved and slowly the door opened.

His heart dropped as his eyes met hers. Her eyes were red, mascara ran down her cheeks. She stood in the dress she had chosen. Her hair had become a mess. 

"I am so sorry. They told me it would be an hour thing Mer. I got out of the raid and I saw the time and it killed me."Derek rubbed his forehead with his free hand "I got you these"He handed her the biggest boquet of flowers, roses to be exact, pink red and white.  "I had to come. I couldn't have you think I stood you up"He sighed as she opened the door enough for him to come in. 

She walked to the kitchen and grabbed a vase from under the counter, she arranged them quickly and added them to water before turning to him.

"I thought you didn't want me"She looked down sadly. 

"I want you Mer. I messed up our date"He sounded so angry. Meredith understood now, now that he was here. She walked towards him and lightly stroked his cheek.

"You are here with me now aren't you. But you surely can't be comfortable in this all night as hot as it is"She teased him.

"What do you mean"He furrowed his brows.

"We erm..we could order something and watch a movie?"She suggested nervously. "And then you hold me all night in my room"her voice full of nerves.

"If you are sure? I have a gym bag in my car. Joggers and tshirt" Meredith smiled at him.

"Go get it, you can come into my room after if you would like to change, or you can go into the bathroom its up to you"She was sweet, she had reacted in a way that only made him want her more.

"I will go to the bathroom, how about you get some comfy clothes on."He toyed with her hair as she nodded.

Ten minutes later Derek was sat on her sofa in grey joggers and a thin cotton t, he looked up when he heard her. She wore a soft cotton grey vest with the matching shorts  He couldn't deny how good she looked.

"You look so cute"He chuckled, she was bare faced.  

"I am cold already" She pouted. Derek opened his arms for her. 

"Come here then beautiful"Her stomach fluttered at his words. She practically fell ontop of him which only caused him to laugh.  

"What do you like to eat when you order food. I order pizza or I order from Plaza Pasta" She looked up at him, he couldn't think, her body was pressed against his , she looked so perfect. 

"Pasta, we were meant to go to the Italian place tonight"Meredith sensed his sadness.

"You were bettering the world, now put your order in"She handed him her phone, he had never been with someone who would openly give him their phone. Not that he wanted it but most girls were always protective.

"You are not paying for our dinner Mer. No way. I will put this order onto my phone"He looked at what she had put in. "You don't eat much do you"He frowned , she had ordered a kid sized pasta with chicken and bacon with salad.

"It'll fill me up"She shrugged lightly. He didn't question her he simply kissed her head "I have a pack of loads of tooth brushes if you need one."She added to which he smiled.

"Thanks beautiful. Now that is ordered what are we watching"He questioned. Meredith chose some film he hadn't heard of, but hearing her laugh along made his night.

He hadn't expected her to welcome him as she had, but she wasn't like most girls. Something that was clear to him more than ever.

"Food"Meredith jumped up as the door knocked. Only to laugh when Derek tickled her waist.

"You missy, nah ah nah." He shook his finger and answered the door, paid a tip then locked it.

"Why didn't you let me"She pouted.

"Because you look so good, plus you are just so tiny and cute"He caused a light blush to form.

They ate watching a comedy they both knew, Derek would add on comments that made her laugh, he made her feel at ease. 

"You look tired Mer"Derek noticed as she cleared away the utensils they had used.

"Crying made me tired. But now I feel silly for being sad. You gave me the best evening"She shivered lightly.

"I was upset so you aren't silly. I am glad you still enjoyed it. I will take you out though. I will. I get you all day tomorrow too"He whispered.

"I am lucky, now come on beddd"She tugged his arm lightly. He checked her windows were all locked before following her into the room. It was cosy, it was Meredith.  "You can take your top off you know, i trust you"She walked to the bathroom within her room. Derek chuckled but took it off, he didn't notice it move from where he placed it.

He didn't notice until she emerged, her hair tied back, minty breathed and of course the large tshirt that drowned her.

"You could have said you wanted it"He laughed as she tried to sneak past him.

"Welllll no fun that way. I can't sleep in the dark so I will just keep these lights on tonight. They aren't bright."She pulled back the covers as Poppy jumped up. "Oh she sleeps on my pillow, but I won't need that tonight"

Her small comments made his day. Once he was comfortable he felt her snuggle into his side, her head instantly on his chest.

"See, perfect. It all turned out well didn't it Der"Meredith used a nickname.

"It did Mer, I am still sorry"He apoligised again.

"Its okay, now hold me and lets sleep. I will try not to cling to you tomorrow, night night" She settled down, within minutes she was in a deep slumber. 

Which gave Derek his oppurtunity to kiss her head.

"I don't mind you clinging to me, you keep me warm too Mer"
