Twenty-Nine

The drive back was as peaceful as they could have hoped for, in the first car the kids were sleeping, the music only hummed lightly as the sisters spoke in a low tone. In Derek's car his father and best friend spoke to him about his love life, his relationship with Meredith and how happy he looked. In Meredith's car they sang loudly, Carolyn expressed her adoration toward the blonde who had managed to steal Derek's heart.

On arrival back everyone went straight to their rooms, they were more than exhausted. Derek and Meredith had stroked and spent some time with Ruby before calling up the stairs to the room in which they shared.

Derek fell asleep in an instant after his shower, not living up to his promise of destroying her, he simply kissed the base of her neck and held her close to him, enjoying having her close to him.

Meredith however couldn't fall asleep, she laid with her eyes open with her fingers toying with Ruby's soft fur.

Everything was so perfect, it scared her. She had never felt so relaxed and in her mind that made her feel like a tragedy was bound to her, she didn't believe she could be happy without consequence.

Sighing gently she pulled herself from the bed, only wearing her bed shorts and vest she draped her light robe over herself. She walked to the balcony and opened the doors, the cool air settling her lightly.

She looked out at the view, of the trees, the sand, the water, and how the waves slammed the rocks. She was so lost within her own world, just thinking.

Derek felt the breeze against his skin as he sensed the space beside him, slowly he sat up and looked around. His eyes soon finding her leaned over the rail outside.

He slowly approached her, without making a noise. She lightly jumped as his muscular arms wrapped around her pulling her into his arms.

"Why are you up baby?"He asked as he stroked the skin of her arm.

"I can't sleep"She whispered in response.

"Want to go for a little walk?"He suggested "Beach will be empty it's 2am"He added. She turned in his arms and nodded gently.

Meredith went as she was and Derek pulled on a shirt so he wasn't just in his shorts.

They made sure they left in complete silence so they didn't disturb anyone, especially the kids.

Hand in hand they walked, down the pavement to the beach. The sounds of nature brought peace to them.  Derek couldn't stop himself from looking at her , he struggled to believe she was really his.

He couldn't stop going back to what his father had told him earlier that day.

"Derek son, you love her. I see that. But you haven't told her and that doesn't make any sense to me. Why wouldn't you want her to know, you should be screaming it from the roof tops. She is a shy girl who is scared if she tells you first she will lose you and everything she has built with you. Tell her, tell her how you feel. You never know what is going to happen"

Those words rang in his ears  as he walked with her hand in his. He had never felt a connection like this before, one so strong where the feelings are so genuine and real.

"Shall we sit here"Meredith smiled softly at him breaking his trance.

"Of course beautiful"he followed her to the small sandy spot, the tide had already hit meaning their usual space had been covered with the sea water.

The silence between them was comfortable, one they both enjoyed. Meredith was sat between Derek's legs her back against his chest as he drew circles on her bare thigh.

" I've never skinny dipped before" Meredith randomly announced to him " wanna try?" Her voice peaked with excitement. Derek chuckled at her.

" Are you asking me to get nude in public and commit a crime Miss Grey" Derek teased " I'm only joking princess , get naked" he encouraged. He stayed sitting down so he could enjoy the view of her removing her clothes. Once she was naked and standing before him he stood up , lightly bringing his hand down across her ass cheek as he did so.

He knew Meredith could be playful but never would he have expected her to suggest skinny dipping although it was something he had wanted to do. It was something on his bucket list.

He grabbed her hand as they ran into the water together , Meredith giggling as the cold water splashed them both.

" You are so amazing Meredith" he let out as they stood chest deep in the water. She shivered lightly beneath his arms.

" No, it's all you. Thank you for bringing me" she looked out over the water as Derek looked down on her with a sense of pride.  She looked perfect as she stood there before him her naked skin glowing in the moon light, it was his moment.

"Look at me baby" Derek told her , slowly she turned in his arms , he took a moment to look at her , take her in before tucking a lose stand of hair behind her ear.

" You are staring" she shyly smiled.

" Meredith, you are so beautiful yet you try and hide it. You have the most warmest and kindest heart. When I laid my eyes for you that first time I thought oh Jesus she's hot. You drive me insane with your little giggle and short skirts , the way you moan my name when I kiss that spot behind your ear. Each moment I spend with you I fall for you more and more, Meredith I am completely, utterly, madly in love with you. I didn't think it was possible to feel this way about someone then you came along. I don't ever want to be without you . I love you " tears glistened in her eyes as he finished . She reached up and caught his lips with hers.

Slowly she kissed him , a kiss that felt different for them both.

" I've wanted to say that for a while now myself,
I am madly in love with you, you make me feel so safe and happy. Derek you make me feel things I never thought I could. You make me love myself , love waking up in the morning. I never thought someone as handsome as you would fall for me. But I love you" knowing their feelings were mutual Derek slammed his lips down onto her , he pulled her closer before placing both hands on her ass, with a quick movement her legs wrapped around his waist.

Between kisses they both repeated those words " I love you"
