'Assassination?'
Park Jimin remembered the phone call he had picked up from a certain Min Jennie. He remembered how intimate Min Jennie sounded when talking to Rosè over the phone. It seems he had to swat away a lot of insects buzzing around his woman...
But wait, she had looked into his assassination? His heart warmed at the thought. Was this what they were referring to? He wasn't scared of dying or assassinations.
At this point, he was used to being a target. As a matter of fact, right before the previous car accident, he had survived a shooting a couple days prior to the car crash. This one was just more successful than the others.
To him, assassins was inevitable, but his thorough screenings and generous compensations to everyone in his security detail ensured he wouldn't die easily. Anyone that got past them would truly be a competent assassin.
But he wanted to listen to her speak, so he continued to pay attention to her.
"I had a friend look into it." She opened the envelope and pulled out a small USB. "This USB drive contains almost everything you need to know about who attempted to kill you. There's surveillance footage, which by the way, was apparently very hard to acquire since the assassins wiped out almost everything."
Since they were sitting behind his desk, his laptop was within her reach. Without even asking for his permission, she grabbed it and inserted the USB drive into one of the ports.
She suddenly realized what she had just done and took a secretive peek at him, curious about his reaction. Would he scold her for touching something that contained his company's secrets? Would he yell at her for messing with his files? Would he get so angry at her, he'll finally release her?
The edge of her lips twitched when she saw he wasn't even close to mad. As a matter of fact, he looked like a lovestruck fool with his tender eyes and adoring smile. He was playing with strands of her hair, absentmindedly twirling it around his finger.
She pressed her lips together in annoyance.
"Did you even hear what I said?" She asked, to which he smiled and pulled her closer to him, so much that her back was aligned on his chest. She didn't realize it before, but it was rock solid and strong like a brick wall.
"You said the surveillance footage is very hard to find and the USB contains clips on who tried to kill me. Don't get mad so easily. I always listen to every single word you say." He teased her, tapping her nose with his long finger.
He smiled when she retreated her claws and looked away from him, a satisfied expression on her face.
"Whatever." She huffed, turning back on his laptop and accessing the files.
She showed him the surveillance video of two cars crashing straight into a black Maybach. Within seconds, yellow flares erupted, signaling a gunfight had started. She didn't even blink as men started dropping like flies from the gunshots. She stayed heavily focused on the scene because it was also her first time seeing it.
"Did you see that?" She asked him, pointing towards the screen.
"Hm, see what?" He was distracted by her concentrated expression, the way her brow knit together as she dissected the film bit by bit.
He couldn't help but marvel how charismatic and beautiful she was when she was in charge. The way her eyes would sharpen and her delectable lips would press together as she focused. For him, the best part about it was that she behaved this way because she wanted to help him!
She turned around and fiercely glared at him. She looked agitated with him and her voice mirrored her annoyance.
"Were you just watching me the entire time?" She fumed, attempting to get off his lap, but his grip was like an iron bar around her, refusing to let her leave.
"I was." He told her, not liking the way she roughly struggled in his arms. She was purposely elbowing his abdomen in hopes he'd release her, but her tiny elbows didn't hurt him. Instead, he grabbed her wrist, trailing his fingers to hers.
"You're so riled up today." He chuckled, leaning his head on her shoulder.
"Because this is a very serious matter! It concerns the life you almost lost!" She exasperated, growing more and more irked by him with each passing second. However, her voice was clearly tinged with concern.
When his smile widened at her words, she wanted to wipe that stupid smirk off of his face. He was always looking at her with a gaze filled with pure admiration, she was beginning to wish he would stop looking at her like that. She had never been smoldered by so much adoration before, thus, her only reaction was to run from it.
Seeing her annoyed expression that resembled a tiny little kitten ready to maul him with her small claws, he couldn't help but chuckle.
She shivered when she felt the powerful rumble on her back. He leaned closer to her, his lips hovering near her ears, sending warm tickles throughout her entire body.
"Do you want to know something?" He whispered to her, eyes twinkling at the way she was subtly reaching for her purse. He felt his chest swell with happiness and pride that she was using the one he had gotten for her.
"What is it?" She impatiently said, wanting to grab the pepper spray in her purse to force him into submission.
He lifted his hand and used his long fingers to gently grip her chin so she can look back at his laptop's screen. The video was paused right at the moment you see silhouettes of men in black hiding behind a car.
"Every man you saw in this video who dared to take my life are writhing in a cell, chained to the walls, and beaten into submission. They've been so brutally tortured and mutilated, they'd prefer a lifetime in hell than where they're being held." He didn't mean to sound so sinister but the voice naturally came out, as if he was taunting an enemy.
The way he said such horrid words without flinching must've made him look like a bloodthirsty serial killer. The fact that he still had his loving expression as he talked about it would make any other woman run for the hills. All the women in the past who had dared demand something more than physical relations from him had gotten the same treatment and they all trembled with fear on what he could do.
To add the final blow, he quickly opened an application on his laptop. The screen flashed black as if it had died. He pressed his thumb to the fingerprint scanner and the screen changed to display multiple surveillance videos of dark depressing cells.
He zoomed into one of the cells which were occupied. In the middle of the room were two men, but their bodies were so horrid, it looked more like balls of flesh dripping blood than men.
The floor and the walls were decorated with strange stains, torture devices, and random body limbs. The scene was horrible to witness and most people would've gagged or thrown up at something like that.
Park Jimin was deliberately testing her. He didn't want her hands to be unnecessarily stained with blood, but he also did not want to hide the fact that he was the king of the underworld. While she had her connections, being with him would mean exposing her to the entirety of this dark, dark world he was heavily invested in.
Not only was he testing her, but he was also warning her of what the consequences would be if she ever betrayed him. He thought back to the photographs from this morning. He knew she had not seen it and she never would. He had paid the paparazzi a hefty sum of money to keep his mouth shut and the SD card destroyed.
If Ling Suho knows what's good for him, he would keep his filthy paws away from his woman.
He waited for her reaction. This wasn't even the full extent of his vicious ways. What he did to those assassins barely scratched the surface of what he could do.
