There were days that were meant to be terrible.

And Pat was having one of those.

From the very second he opened his eyes, Pat's day started on the wrong foot. It had been to Pran's angry voice that Pat had woken up, scolded for not cleaning the pile of dishes in the sink Pran had kindly asked him to clean the night before.

However, Pat had been distracted and had completely forgotten about it. And now, Pran was mad at him. Not wanting his boyfriend to be mad any longer, Pat had quickly got up and got ready for work before cleaning the dirty dishes.

That in itself, had already made him slightly late for work. And the fact that his car broke down on the way there didn't help him one bit. He had to take a taxi instead and leave his car on the side of the road for someone to come pick up later while he tried to hurry to work.

It was a half hour later that Pat stumbled inside the company and clocked in. As he rushed to his cubicle and gathered the pile of files he needed to work on, Pat prayed that his supervisor wouldn't notice how late he had come to work today but unfortunately for him, he wasn't lucky today.

Pat was scolded loudly in front of every single one of his colleagues, not being given the chance to explain himself. He was to shut his mouth and listen. Later that day, Pat was asked to take a file to his boss in his office. But as he was walking out, he collided with the boss' assistant who was bringing in the man's coffee.

Pat was burnt as the hot beverage spilled all over his white dress shirt. And he was scolded again for not being more careful on his way out while the assistant was scolded for not being careful on their way in. The assistant apologised to the boss and sent a glare to Pat for getting him scolded.

During lunch, Pat thought he could finally take a breath and relax for a bit but unfortunately, it wasn't the case. One of his reports to his supervisor seemed to be wrong and so he was asked to quickly work on it during his lunch break. Pat had tried to argue that he wasn't supposed to be working during lunch hour but he was again scolded for talking back.

In the end, Pat had to redo his report and correct his mistakes while he ate his lunch. That gave him a stomach ache for the rest of the afternoon which made his work slower than he was used to as he was distracted by the pain and yet again, Pat got a scolding for slacking off.

At the end of the day, Pat was just done. He had the worst possible day ever and all he wanted to do was to go back home and cuddle with his Pran. But even that seemed impossible as he had left his home with Pran still angry at him. That and the fact that his supervisor demanded he catch up on his work after work hours, a way to punish him for being so slow today. And as much as Pat had wanted to scream at the man that he didn't want to and he was tired, Pat nodded and kept his mouth shut as he watched all his colleagues leave one by one while he remained seated.

It was nearly midnight when Pat was done with his work and was finally able to go home. The ride back home had never seemed so long. It felt to him as if seconds were minutes and minutes were hours. Everything was just taking so much time. Pat just wanted to go home.

Eventually, the house came into sight and it was as if a huge weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Finally, this horrible day was over. He was going to be able to relax. But when he walked in, he couldn't hear anything. As if there was no one inside aside from himself. And the weight that had been lifted from his shoulder turned into a tightness around his heart.

Where was Pran?

Was he so mad at Pat that he left?

At this hour, Pran was supposed to be here. Maybe he was in the bedroom, sleeping. But when Pat entered the bedroom, he found it empty of his boyfriend. And so, in a panic, Pat searched everywhere for the boy. It wasn't until he stumbled into the kitchen that Pat noticed something.

There, on the kitchen island, was a plate filled with food. It seemed to have been placed there quite a while ago as it wasn't steaming anymore. Pat approached it and noticed it was his favourite dish. Pat took the little note placed next to it and recognised Pran's handwriting. The note was entitled 'In case I fell asleep'.

'Sorry for getting mad at you this morning, I know you easily get distracted sometimes. I made your favourite, I hope you like it. Forgive me, love.'

Pat once again felt as if he could breathe again. The tightness around his heart was gone. Pran hadn't left him. He had even cooked Pat's favourite dish. Pat decided to go look in the living room and sure enough, there he found his boyfriend, sleeping comfortably on the couch with a small pout on his lips, his eyebrows furrowed as he dreamt.

Pat crouched down in front of him and watched him sleep for a moment, admiring the beauty Pran held. Pat didn't even know why Pran was even dating him. They were so different and they argued quite often for things that usually were Pat's fault. He was always doing things to annoy or anger Pran so why in the world was Pran still in love with him? What had made him fall in love in the first place? Pat had no clue but he was glad to have someone like Pran in his life either way.

"Pat?" Pran's hoarse voice asked as he opened his eyes to look at Pat in front of him. "What time is it?"

"One in the morning." Pat answered softly, his hand brushing Pran's hair back tenderly.

"What took you so long?" Pran asked, his eyes having a hard time staying open and Pat found the sight to be adorable. "What's wrong?" he asked when he noticed the tears in Pat's eyes and suddenly, Pran was wide awake.

"It's nothing."

"Pat, you don't cry for no reason." Pran retorted quietly, sitting up and cradling Pat's face in his hands gently. And as Pat closed his eyes, allowing himself to bask in the feeling of being held by his boyfriend, the first tear fell. "What happened?" Pran whispered, brushing the tear away before it could entirely roll down his cheek. "Did you have a bad day at work?"

"You have no idea." Pat replied and Pran felt his heart aching for his lover. He was quick to pull Pat in his embrace and they stayed like this for a while, loving the feeling of each other so close. "Thank you for loving me." he heard Pat whisper and his heart ached even more.

"You don't have to thank me for something like that, Pat." Pran told him, kissing the top of his head. "I'll always love you."

"What if you stop loving me one day.."

"That'll never happen." Pran replied firmly but it didn't seem to convince Pat.

"But what if it happens?"

"I don't think you really know just how much I truly love you, Pat." Pran sighed, holding onto him tighter. "You are the first person I've ever fallen in love with. And I have loved you for a very long time already. Yet I never once doubted my love for you. Since the moment I first realised my feelings for you, I knew that my heart would always beat for you no matter what." Pran confessed, not knowing just how much of an impact his words had on Pat's heart. "I wouldn't have fought with my mother like that if I wasn't as in love with you as I am. You'll always be the one for me. And I hope you feel the same way."

And instead of using his words, Pat pulled away from the embrace and kissed his boyfriend, pouring all his feelings into the kiss in hopes to convey just how much love he held for Pran. And from the wide grin Pat could feel against his lips, he knew Pran had understood him and that was all that mattered.

Pat loved Pran just as much as Pran loved him and he sure was going to show him that in every single way possible.
