Now, now, Princess,
don't talk sweet to me.

Rummaging through Audrey's dorm turned out to be a waste of time, having found nothing of worth. Well, aside from a diary overflowing with her hatred of Mal. At least they ruled out Auradon Prep as her hiding place.

Leaving the pink room behind, the girls travelled back to Evie's cottage worse for wear and no less clued in. Although they could do now was wait for the others to return, hopefully with Ben in tow. Although the main thing was that they all returned in one piece.

Moving into the formal sitting room, the VKs and Uma took a step back at the sight that greeted them. Dizzy and the Smee twins were collapsed on the plush, grey couch fast asleep. It was a relief to see they had been sitting on the soft surface when the spell overtook them, instead of lying down on the cold tiled floor. Letting out a discontent sound, the young stylist shifted in her sleep. All three of the women looked sombre as they watched Celia pull a blanket over her friends. Mal looked away when she told them of how promising the future would be when they woke, how Mal would let everyone come to Auradon.

Snores saved her from her own melancholy thoughts, moving towards Evie's studio. Standing in the doorway to the conservatory, Eva watched her sister dash over to the sleeping man on the floor. An arm behind his head acted as a pillow. He barely twitched when Evie began shaking him.

"Doug. Wake up." Evie shoved him, not gently. A look of anguish twisted her usually flawless features.

"Is she not a fast learner?" Uma asked.

Mal replied, "She's emotionally involved."

Evie pushed him again, imploring that he open his eyes. She needed him to wake up. Because if he didn't and they failed... Well, it didn't bare thinking about. Especially when she hadn't told him...

"Well, in that case, she should be able to wake him up. True Love's Kiss? Works every time?"

Terror flashed in Evie's widened brown eyes at those three words. The young couple hadn't even hinted at love before. The words had been on the tip of her tongue numerous times over the past few months but her confidence wavered before she could push them out of her mouth. She wasn't sure she could handle it if Doug wasn't her One. Yet the idea of leaving him alone until they managed to stop Audrey - if they managed to stop Audrey - turned her stomach.

"We haven't actually used the L word yet," confessed Evie. "Can we be alone?"

Mal nodded in understanding, turning to leave. Uma trailed behind her, unsettled by Evie's demeanour. Where had the cheerful, always positive VK from this morning gone? Lingering behind a few moments, Evie remained leant against the door frame.
