Chapter 2: A Rock And A Hard Place

Senku broke free from the stone casing and began examining the pieces broken off of him, hoping to figure out why he woke up, and what made them turn to stone in the first place

I can't believe it's been 3,700 years, I've got to figure out shelter, heat,  food, and water or else I will die... There's flora and fauna everywhere so food isn't the main concern, after exploring I'm sure I'll find a water source... Shelter and tools, HOW COULD I FORGET TOOLS!

He found a rock, some vines, a branch, and fastened them together to make a small axe

This should get things moving...

*time skip because being alone is hard*

"Taiju, I missed you buddy, ready for some hard work ya big oaf?" Senku said jokingly punching his friends shoulder

"What do you need?"

"Foraging for food is most important-"  Senku sighed  watching his friend run off into the woods with a wicker basket made for scavenging

A little while later Taiju came back with a full basket, "I wasn't sure what was edible and what wasn't so I got as many different things as I could"

"Holy crap, you must have a real life cheat code for stamina! About half of this is toxic but you found some good mushrooms"

A little cooking with fire and a touch of salt and these are good!

*Later that night*

"Ok, nitric acid seemed to speed up the process but there's gotta be a way to make it faster, nitric acid is commonly found in etching solution along with... Alcohol! There's got to be something we can make alcohol with"

"I found some grapes earlier, grapes make wine right?"

"Taiju, you stupid genius, that's it! In the morning we collect as many as possible and then we make alcohol, night man I need time to think" he waved behind him and went up into his tower of science

Laying on a make-shift bed of leaves and fabric stuffed with leaves he soon couldn't get to sleep, his brain buzzing with a new thought

I'll finally get to see that stupid, amazing, idiotic beast of a loser... I miss you Y/N, just wait a little longer... I haven't found you yet which is statistically improbable, you were right next to me, where could you have gone...

He fell asleep with those upsetting thoughts, tossing and turning all night

Feelings are impossible to understand...

*Flashback time babyyyyy*

"Hey Mad Scientist! You're such a loser!" The bullies high-fiving each other snickered. "Yeah, and that's why you don't have a mom, because you're so ugly too!"

Comments like those never bothered Senku, after the first few times the bullies were content with just words but now...

"Get up know-it-all, I said get up!" The bully picked him up by the front of his shirt

??? "Let him go!"

"A dinky little doll like you bossing me around? I don't think so..." he pushed Senku to one of the other guys, "C'mon princess, you're pretty cute why ya sticking up for such-"

"Don't do it"

"A-"

"I'm telling you not to"

"Hotshot-"

"Last warning muscles"

"Show-off."

The wind picked up around the bullies, the mystery girl took advantage of the distracted boy. She got a running start and kicked both legs into his stomach knocking the wind out of him instantly

"I said put. Him. Down."

They dropped the boy, "Shes crazy! Run!"

"What about-"

"He's dead just go!"

The boys abandoned their leader, the girl walked over, "are you all right?"

"Yeah I'm sorry, there was no need for you to get hurt because of me, they usually beat me up and go home and I continue with my experiments, I'm Senku Ishigami but my first name is fine, yours?"

"Im Y/N L/N, but Y/N is fine, im not hurt dummy!" Their legs buckled and they fell to the ground, "Still not hurt!"

"You're in denial about it, come with me, my dad has a first aid kit, do your parents know where you are?"

"They don't care, im fine I promise! But are you okay?"

"Im fine I swear, you got more hurt than I did," he tried to pick Y/N up, the only way he could hold her was on his back

"Im sorry you have to carry me Senku... Especially piggy back style, it's embarrassing..." they blushed and hid their face in his shoulder

"It's okay, just don't go doing anything stupid like that, you sprained your ankle over trying to help someone you've never met and now you're going to the strange boys house... What's up, you got a death wish or something?"

"My house is up here on the left if you want to drop me home, I've got a kit-"

Senku put the girl down and looked in her eyes, "You didn't answer my question"

"It's not that I have a death wish, I just don't care-"

"Y/N! WHO ARE YOU WITH, GET YOUR ASS IN THE HOUSE RIGHT NOW OR SO HELP ME-" Mother screamed

"I'll see you soon Senku, thanks for helping me"

"Likewise Y/N, sorry about your sprained ankle..."

They smiled at each other as Y/N shut the door behind her, all he heard was yelling until he saw a light in upstairs and the girl at the window sitting at her desk reading a book on space
