I couldn't believe it. Marshall had just proposed to me, and I was completely caught off guard. My mind raced as I thought about what this would mean for us and our future together.

"Hazel, I know we've had our rough patches, but I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" he asked, getting down on one knee.

I looked down at the ring in his hand, feeling a mixture of excitement and fear. Could we really make it work this time?

"I...I don't know, Marshall," I said, biting my lip. "Things have been so..."

"I know, but I promise things will be different this time," he said, taking my hand. "We can set some conditions to make sure we both feel safe and secure in this relationship."

I nodded slowly, considering his words. "Okay, what conditions?"

"First, I will go to therapy or we can go as a couple to work on my anger issues and make sure I address my past and never hurt you again," he said, looking me in the eyes. "Second, we will always communicate openly and honestly, even if it's uncomfortable. And third, we will work as a team to raise our son and any other children we may have in the future."

I took a deep breath, feeling a glimmer of hope for our future together. "Okay, I agree to those conditions."

Marshall stood up, slipping the ring onto my finger. "I love you, Hazel. I won't let you down again."

I looked up at him, feeling a sense of calm wash over me. Maybe we could make this work after all.

.....

As I held my son in my arms, watching him coo and giggle, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. I looked over at Marshall, who was watching us with a loving gaze. We had been through so much together, but now it felt like everything was finally falling into place.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and I saw Hailie and Nate were standing outside, beaming with excitement.

"Can we come in?" Hailie asked, her eyes fixed on the baby in my arms.

"Of course!" I said, motioning them inside.

They both rushed over to us, cooing at the baby.

"He's beautiful," Nate said, smiling.

"He looks just like you, Hazel," Hailie added, giving me a tight hug.

We all sat down on the couch together, catching up on old times and discussing the baby's milestones. Hailie couldn't contain her joy and pride for me and Marshall, and it made me feel so grateful to have such a supportive friend.

As we talked, Hailie suddenly grew serious. "I have to say something," she said, looking at me and Marshall. "I'm so happy for you guys, but don't ever hurt each other again, I hate seeing that."

Marshall and I looked at each other, knowing that she was right. We had been given a second chance, and we couldn't waste it.

"We won't," Marshall said, taking my hand in his.

"Never again," I added, feeling a sense of relief wash over me at the thought of our new beginning.

"You've gotten a second chance with this little one, you did good for me and my siblings, but this time things can be stable right from the beginning."

We both nodded in agreement.

"I'm so excited to watch him grow up." I chuckled.

"Not to quickly, I wanna savour every moment with you, and my little man." Marshall glanced at me with a sparkle in his eye.

I looked at him and I finally felt as if everything was almost as it should be, I finally felt loved and safe and secure, I had a beautiful baby boy and fiancé that was obsessed with me in the best way. I was grateful that he would obviously be able to take on the role of a father, and I was grateful that Justin had agreed to keep out of our lives for good. Things were going to be ok.

The end. Hehe 😈
