Telling My Family (Chapter 7)

Hitoshi POV

  I wake up to the sound of my door opening, I quickly looked towards seeing Sho, he smiles and coos at the sight before him. Tenya was asleep on my chest, and my baby bump revealed, I smiled at Sho and motioned for him to come closer. "I'm assuming things went good," he whispers, I nod "A lot better than expected," I whispered back, "What time is it," I asked "It's almost lunchtime," he responds "We slept to the next day," I whispered yelled. He nods "I guess y'all were really tired," he whispers back "Y'all are going to need that extra sleep," he says running his hand through my hair and smiling, I smile at the thought. Tenya stirs and slowly raises up, he looks around half asleep before smiling and waving at Sho, "Hey," he says tiredly, "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake y'all, I was just checking on y'all," Sho says smiling softly. "It's okay," I reassured, "So are y'all telling your families today," he asks, I looked at Tenya and he looks at me, "Today is a good day to do it," I argued, he nods "I guess it is," he responds. We get up while Sho says his goodbyes and takes his leave, Tenya goes to his dorm to change and I change real quick as well.

  A little bit later Tenya shows up back at my dorm room, "So what is the best way to tell your parents," Tenya asks I could tell he was terrified. "My parents don't take surprises very well, so I think the best way is to just tell them," I say honestly, "That's fair, I feel a surprise would lead to my surprise death," he says. I laugh "They wouldn't murder you, you're the only sane one in Dad's class," I say "I-uh fair," he says trying to defend his class but failing. "I was thinking about how to tell Eri, she wouldn't really understand," I say thinking about it "I think the best way to tell her is to just explain it to her," he says, I nod "I guess your right," I say. "How do we tell your family though," I ask, he hums before thinking about it "Perhaps we can give Tensei a shirt that says it and then maybe just tell my parents," he says unsure "We could give your brother the shirt in front of everyone in your family and announce it," I say thinking out loud. "That could work," he says I get up from the bed and he follows, "Let's go shopping," I say smiling, he smiles and nod before we leave the dorms.

  We leave the dorms putting our hoods up, we wandered the streets quickly looking through stores and searching for what we needed. We found a few shirts similar to what we were looking for but none really jumped out at us. We wandered into the last store we decided to go into and began searching, I grab a shirt reading it before holding it up "How about this," I ask "It's close but not quite Tensei taste," he responds I hum, and continued searching after putting it back. "This is it," he exclaims holding up a sweatshirt, I smiled "I like it," I say, we were walking to the register when I spot a shirt as well, "Wait Tenya look," I say excitedly before going, and grabbing the shirt. "What if we give this to Eri, that way she matches Tensei," I exclaim excitedly, "Yes, they could match together," he says excitedly, we went to the register and paid for our stuff before leaving. We wandered around looking through a few more stores mostly baby stores, we ended up buying a few baby stuff mostly clothes though before we headed to my place.

  We quietly entered and rushed upstairs to my room with the stuff we bought, "Hey, Toshi and Iida," Pop greeted loudly from the living room "Hi Pops," I returned the greeting before entering my room. I locked my bedroom door behind Tenya after we both entered, we laid the stuff on the bed before sitting down on it. I took out the pictures from my pocket which were still in the envelope, I smiled at the pictures before taking a deep breath and looking at Tenya. He gives me a reassuring smile before giving me a kiss on the forehead, I smile and get up before leaving my room. I walk downstairs seeing my fathers cuddled together on the couch watching tv, I took a deep breath before walking in front of the tv and turning it off. "Uh hey, we were watching that," Dad says annoyed, "I know I know but I needed to tell y'all something very important," I say my anxiety building up. "We were actually needing to talk to you as well about your attitude lately," Papa says, "I know and what I need to tell you is sort of about that too," I say taking shaky breaths. "Okay, we're listening," Dad says, I take a deep breath and go to speak but nothing comes out, "Hey hey, it's okay, whatever it is you can tell us," Pop says, I nod and try to find the words I needed to say but nothing would come out. I sighed and just tossed the pictures in the envelope at them before rushing to my room, Tenya looks at me concerned and goes to speak but I shushed him before sitting on my bed looking at the baby clothes.

  We sit in silence for a few minutes as I fold the baby's clothes, I heard a bunch of commotion go on before feet run upstairs and my door is thrown open. My fathers stood at my door looking at me in shock, they then look at Tenya, before their eyes land on the baby stuff in our hands. "Are you really," Dad asks after a minute of silence, I smile softly and nod, he slowly walks towards me before embracing me in a tight hug, sitting down in the process. Tears pricked my eyes as I hug him back, eventually, Pop walks up to us and joins the hug, before finally Papa does too, tears slide down our cheeks as we hold onto each other tightly. They eventually break the hug, Papa and Pop stand a little distant while Dad picks up one of the baby toys sitting next to me, he holds it and sniffles. A plops his hand down in his lap the toy in his hand, "My son is having a baby, our son is having a baby," he says crying looking at Papa and Pop, they begin crying as well, I tightly hug Dad again tears coming down more. They clear their throats and wipe their tears before Pop points at Tenya sternly "You better not hurt him and you better stay by his side, you hear me," Pop says with a stern voice, Tenya quickly nods "Yes sir, I love your son and our baby very much, I want to spend every second of this with him," he says grabbing my hand and holding it. Pop nods "You got a good man right there Toshi," he says and I smile "Yeah, I got very lucky, we got very lucky," I say putting a hand on my stomach. They smile at the sight as Tenya and I look into each other eyes smiling, "Now I got to see the baby bump," Papa says smiling, I laugh and lift up my shirt revealing the baby bump. They all cooed at the sight all taking turns resting their hands on my stomach, it was then Dad's turn and he got on his knees putting his hand on my stomach "Hello, my grandchild, you are very lucky, you are have great parents and a wonderful family waiting for you, we love you and we can't wait to meet you," he says smiling brightly, I choked back a sob and hug him tightly. My fathers all hugged me and Papa eventually ended up pulling Tenya also into the hug.

  We sat there for a minute all in the group hug before we heard little pattered feet running down the hall that eventually stopped in front of my door. We break the hug and looked at the door, there stood Eri looking at us confused "What's going on," she asks confused "Well uhm," Papa started. "Eri," I say standing up and grabbing the shirt for her on the bed before kneeling in front of her, "There is something very important we need to tell you, okay," I started, she nods "Do you know what an aunt is," I ask her "You mean those tiny bugs that bite," she responds. I laugh softly "Those are ants, aunts are sisters whose siblings have children, then they get promoted to aunts," I explain. Her eyes sparkle "Can I be an aunt one day," she says excitedly "Actually," I say as I start to unfold the shirt and hold it up for her, "You already have been promoted," I say. Her face lights up with joy as she takes the shirt smiling brightly "Yay, I'm an aunt," she says brightly, I stay kneeled as she runs around finding myself unable to get back up. Tenya notices and immediately gets up before helping me stand, I find a sudden wave of exhaustion wash over me and I lean on Tenya for support. I look towards my fathers and smile, they were smiling brightly and reading the shirt to Eri, who was happily showing off the shirt. Tenya notices my sudden weakness and helps me walk to the bed before helping me sit down, "Are you okay," he whispers in my ear, I nod "Just a wave of exhaustion," I whispered back, he runs his hand through my hair and I smile at him. I slowly fall asleep leaning on his shoulder, listening to everyone's conversation and excitement for the baby, I felt loved, it made me happy.
